BitCo Consumer Review

Bitco please give us an update here hardline and BF4 is disconnecting on PC 5ms ping???!!!!!!

Just got my hands on the Ultimate Edition Beta Version for Gears of War Xbox One, just about finished downloading going to give it a try tonight with the Bitco network, hold thumbs

Just played Gears of Wars Beta Ultimate Edition and all i can say is...... bloody brilliant, the BITCO network performed well had no issues, the game itself has a few bugs that needs to be ironed out, servers need to be balanced out on net-code and the sniper rifles are way over powered.

But over all ...what a game!!:D

If you are a Xbox One Gamer I recommend you try and get into the Beta Program as it ends on the 21st of June 2015

That's great news! I look forward to trying it out. :D

For now though I'm still waiting for my link activation. Man I'd be happy if it happens before the weekend!

My neighbor's link came alive yesterday after the install on Monday. Wonder why yours is taking so long?

I don't know but I'm a bit worried about it. Remember they were also initially not sure whether they were going to install.

BitCo has kept me updated though. They sent me an email this morning to tell me they will update me again before the close of business today.

I will download my BF4 tonight and let you know what mine is like. (Not on BitCo. Another WISP)

Please let us know as this issue has been on going for the last 3 months and Bitco are nowhere near a solution!!

Hi all,

Long-time lurker, first time user... ;)

We just signed up with Bitco. They installed today actually. We did this on the basis of a few things:

We had tried for Telkom ADSL beginning of last year (signed up and ordered etc). Telkom called us several months later to say "we're sorry, there is no infrastructure we can use for you so we are cancelling this order".

So we looked into other solutions (been using 3G and work internet dongles for months and months) but that got untenable so we looked into wireless solutions and found Bitco.

Reading reviews (first few pages of this thread as well as some others) we thought they sounded really positive so we went with them. Was a little disconcerting reading more of this thread today just after they finished installing and seeing some of the negative experiences. I am however hoping that this won't affect me too much - this may be heresy but I am not much of a gamer (aside from Bandfuse and Rocksmith) and will be primarily using the connection for streaming Netflix and Hulu, and torrenting (but can do that overnight) as well as for work (I work from home).

Found out yesterday after we had scheduled the install that Telkom may in fact have coverage for us in the area, for a 10mbps line, but we had already signed up with Bitco and were (and still are) pretty excited about reliable internet.

Anyway, long post to say, new Bitco subscriber here and hoping for a happy relationship. Waiting for link activation now...

Any musicians in Jhb/Fourways area?

Out of interest, what road are you in? I'm in Frederic Road, Kengies. Also no Telkom infrastructure - thanks to copper thieves. Let me know how the Netflix works out? I'm still waiting on approval from the homeowners association to put up a 3m antennae with dish. *holding thumbs.

Was it exactly 6weeks that you had to wait for the install to go ahead ?

That's frustrating, sorry to hear it. We are behind Cedar Square in Willow Avenue (we're actually in Craigavon, behind Fourways). I am pretty stoked to get going with Netflix, assuming I can get it to work...

The install was a bit of a process actually. I know this sounds odd, but we don't have a trapdoor to get into our ceiling. DSTV, the alarm people, and whoever else need to go in through the roof. So initially the guys from Bitco didn't know how to install. Spent a considerable amount of time looking for a solution (including thinking about drilling through the wall from outside to inside, which I certainly wasn't a huge fan of). Eventually managed to route the cable from the opposite corner of the roof (where the antenna is) to where they could run it down the wall on the exact opposite corner of the house and to a conduit outside which leads inside to our central entertainment cabling area. Really Happy the builders installed that conduit...

It was pretty darn close.

We initially ordered Bitco, and waited several weeks for the site assessment. I don't remember exactly how many weeks. They then said they didn't have LOS. But a few days later they phoned back to say they'd relooked at it and they could install after all, which made us Happy!

We sent our initial signed forms towards end of third week of April and they installed today.

Thx for the info ..Mmm from 3rd week of April..and its now almost end of June. That's 2months waiting ..damn that's a long time.

@Bitco, how many install teams do you have servicing the Gauteng region ?

Unfortunately still no link activation for me. I hope there isn't something drastically wrong.

Dont stres mine took about 10 days i think to get activated. They told me there were red flags that came up and had to keep testing to get the link perfect. Trust me when they do eventually hand over it will be well worth it and best internet you will have, low pings and super fast browsing and streaming
