BitCo Consumer Review

I also get the weak network detected message in Forza 5 , no matter what time I play and some cars will float in air etc due to lag , maybe Bitco can optimize some ports for us ?

If you ask them I'm sure they optimise the game for you. They have with other games on request. Just PM them or log a ticket.

Cool and Richard gave me my username and password for the router this morning. I asked him whether there's congestion, explaining about the packet loss last night but none this morning and he unfortunately ignored that. I remember that there was a post that BitCo will be increasing the bandwidth between the tower and where ever it goes next. I'll have to go look for that. It will be nice if they give us an update on that.

I'm happy. I was expecting a little bit more but I did see the posts about people not being able to game on it and I knew it could happen to me. So I will be keeping some Afrihost LTE to game on. Ideally I would have liked to drop the Afrihost LTE but at least now I can game online with LTE and do everything else on BitCo.

I still have to see how it performs over the weekend since I got some private messages from other people complaining about packet loss and they say that it's really bad over weekends. Hopefully it won't be that bad for me.

Hi Gezza,

You are clearly exasperated with BitCo. It is evident how upset you are, however, we have to state that your comments to the above information is what is published on our about page and refers to all of BitCo’s products and services at large. For example, customised solutions does not refer only to our wireless services, but instead encompasses wholesale and PBX services which are tailored to our customer’s needs.

Your comments are all aimed at gaming specifically. We have been more than transparent with taking ownership of this problem.
We will take the criticism where it warranted but the above is out of context and not accurate for the point you are arguing.

Kind Regards,
Jarryd

Fair enough. Please explain your 24/7 support statement then? I'll admit I'm fuming because of the gaming and I have moved on to another ISP. But this has bugged me since the first Friday afternoon I sent in a ticket.

Also, this was the first response you have given me in the forum. Naughty naughty.

Im getting my hardware installed tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Good luck! May you have pure internet joy (no disrespect Afrihost).

Good luck man

Pitbull, or any of you for that matter. I realised that I can't remote desktop to my UK server using BitCo. I can remote desktop to local servers but to my UK server I just connect and then everything is too slow to function. Yet if I remote desktop to there on 3G then it works perfectly. Does anyone else have a problem like that?

I sent BitCo an email with the IP address, hoping that they can do something about it.

I'm frustrated. I also can't seem to download the Unity installer : https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download?ref=personal

On 3G I can though. But then if I download the installer via 3G and want to run the installer that downloads Unity when connected via BitCo then it can't again. But on 3G it's fine.

Does BitCo have a status page where they announce certain problems or things? Or does BitCo block certain sites and downloads and protocols?

Can anyone confirm whether they can download Unity when using BitCo?

*edit*

And wanting to check the weather for tomorrow, I can't access http://www.accuweather.com/. But using http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ it tells me that the site is up.

*edit*

This morning still. Accuweather doesn't open. Neither does http://telegraph.co.uk/ . I wonder if there's something wrong with access to the UK? I'm not sure where Accuweather is hosted but the rest is in the UK I think.

It's not only you, I also can't download Unity and accuweather is not working for me.

All those links are working fine on my side.

I think maybe log a ticket. Something else seems to be wrong. Can you access any other international sites or only local sites?

It's weird that it's working for some of us and others not. But I did log a ticket.

I realised something last night. I got BitCo internet to use at home which is basically the same times as when there's no support available. It's really something people should consider when signing up.

The sites started working at 8:30. Richard tells me that they were able to access all sites on their side and that I should check my plugins. Even though when I spoke to Clinton on the phone, he was also not able to access Accuweather. A site that I could access with Afrihost LTE but not with BitCo.

But yes, these sites are working now. It's just the remote desktop that doesn't work. I really hope that everything doesn't stop working again tonight.

My BitCo experience has been shaky in the couple of days that I've had it. I really hope everything just settles and works well. Especially now over the weekend where there will be no support. Man, I had such hope! Please BitCo, please get better. Please just work, okay?

Unfortunately it looks like something is wrong with my connection. I can't open the Steam store and I can't open Facebook plus the previous sites that I mentioned. Richard says they made adjustments to the network this morning but my connection is just not working right.

I don't really know what to do now.

Actually, after I typed the previous message a thought came to me. I changed the DNS servers to use Google's DNS instead of obtaining one automatically and now the sites work! Will keep an eye on it to see if it's a permanent solution.

Suggest "nslookup www.facebook.com"
then "tracert -d www.facebook.com"
If that works fine I'd then do a "telnet www.facebook.com 443"

Should at least give you some idea of what the problem is, depending if it is a DNS issue, routing issue or port redirect issue.

Something is very broken, I can't get to steam and a lot of other international websites.

Yeah I told them about it yesterday but it never got fixed. I ended up fixing it by changing the DNS to use Google's DNS. Now everything works fine.

I'm glad it seems to be working after that. At least Bitco doesn't do DNS redirection. MTN does, and it f***s everything up.
(Assumes everyone here understands what that is.)
