No I'm prepared to accept that. It is just that it can be overridden with education, so what you view as moral and not can change as you move through life despite some potential evolutionary hard-wiring. As I said, your article very clearly states that we can use our rational minds, our experiences, to justify the morality of an action and then do it. Thus education, our experiences, how we are taught right from wrong, is very important. That is what allows for such a diverse set of acceptable behaviour within human societies. If you want to hold your source up as correct then you must admit this as it was an integral part of the source.

Oh and I agree prison isnt the answer, remove them from the gene pool

This initial fuss was not because the politically correct brigade are against baby rape but because the author of the blog referred to a certain section of the population.

Ukuthwala is an exclusively black custom and involves the kidnapping and rape of young (often under-aged) girls and forcing them into marriage.

Other equally revolting and exclusively black customs are muti murders, witch killings and lobola.

Political correctness makes it racism to point out this fact.

Witch killings "exclusively black"?!?!? :wtf:

Dude at one point white people cornered the market when it came to witch killings. White folks even built crazy contraptions to help streamline the process and had codified commands from God to kill witches. We went full retard on witch killing. Black folks could actually learn a thing or two from how efficiently and mercilessly white people embraced witch killing.

No argument there but that was some two hundred years ago at a time when slavery was a part of everyday life throughout the world, ten year old kids crawled through English coal mines dragging loaded trucks and nobody knew where the source of the Nile was.

Education changed all that and those cultures melted away as a result.

At much the same time Shaka was introducing his own culture of plunder and rape and, in South Africa, that culture is still put on a pedestal and considered sacred with critics being branded racist.

I truly hate when people position an argument on "Why aren't you mad about xx and yy too (or instead)"?

First of all, everybody criticises Zuma, everyone is disgusted by Zuma and Zuma is the running joke of our country, whites blacks coloureds and Indians alike. Not only is the argument stupid (it suggests a person can't be mad at two things at once, whole argument is based on the assumption a person isn't mad) but it's false! If she just did one Google search on Zuma and his marriage she would find many thought pieces on the topic but again some people just like the sound of their own voice (or look of their own text?).

Then she has the nerve to continue and talk about Islam and corrective rape...because nobody in time whatsoever has ever spoken out about women's rights within Islam or corrective rape. Nobody. It's a brand new flippin thought, congrats Mabille. We can just forget the 3rd Degree special about homophobia and corrective rape, forget the recent FHM debacle that started a discussion, forget the internet columnists and forget the NGOs with these missions. The fact that the topic at hand deals with the first two points of your little list should be enough to make you regretful for even typing that.

As for the discussion in general, I agree that education in general would go a long way to curbing this particular problem. Maybe some of the posters have a point here - maybe this is more a religious issue than cultural.
