Sorry for causing the chaos.

If i am allowed to add 2c here. BB app world is not carrier related at all !!! I have it running on my bb, reloaded os a few times and redownloaded with a vodacom sim without issues ! The app is owned by rim who owns blackberry. No terms has to be negotiated as it makes it purchase via paypal and not the service provider. I dont see why vodacom has to make plans to get it here. Rim/blackberry has to decide to bring it here.

I do apologize for asking to create a subfolder here where all blackberry questions can be answer. I just felt that blackberries are taking of big in South Africa and with a central point to offer help, we as the persons that know how to sort things and help people would have one place to pop ina and sort all out.

look, there are 2 issues.

1 - blackberry across all carriers, tips trick and apps etc
2 - carrier related issues such as the terrible service we've had with vodacom

why conflate the two? It actually just makes matters worse for those of us struggling against the vodacorp moat of red-tape and denial.

as for the appworld issue, i have tried but cannot get it installed - not supported in this country yet, by either of the carriers.

Fully agree with what you are saying.

In the ended this will just end up being a better place to have all questions answered regarding blackberries. It doesnt matter who your service provider is or not. They all work the same way. Unfortunetly vodacom has over sell their network for blackberries and that is way they have issues. MTN has double theres to give better speed to people.

If vodacom was not allowed to download bb app world, how come i can do so ? have vodacom service books, apn and sim but i am not being blocked ?

Here is my theary and those i know can corrected me, when i had an 8310(localy bought) i tried to download, was available for this country. Tooks sim out of curve and in to tour(imported from overseas) tried to download and it did. RIM blocks according to imei/pin which blackberries can download and which cant. When vodacom/mtn, gets theirs rim allocates a bunch of pin/imei's to south africa. My tour was allocated for america, so rim thinks i am there and the allows me to downloaded it. When it was in tour it picked me up as a south african user.

Please correct me if i am wrong :)

actually i think i'll continue to post whatever i damn well feel i want to post.

surely you know that the minority isn't always wrong by default.

I am glad there is a bb subforum - it was needed.

Im sorry - but please explain this to me in a cohesive manner:

If i am on vodacom, and my blackberry service is slow, but someone on mtn is on blackberry and their service is fine - it is clearly a network issue. It has nothing to do with phones. So why would I post it in a blackberry section?

If that doesnt make sense, heres an analogy:
If my VW works fine with shell petrol but bad with sasol petrol, will I question VW or Sasol?

Obviously you'll arent going to change anything because you'll believe that what youre doing is right and are not open to negotiation. Personally i believe youve gone one step backward by not realizing there is a difference between the "Blackberry Service" offered by each carrier, and "Blackberry Smartphones"

+1

In the end they connect from our phones to blackberry servers on the other end via service books that is done by blackberry. Vodacom has over sold there capacity for connection via data. MTN noticed it beforehand and double capacity before any one released there was issues with connecting to rim servers.

Fully agree with what you two are saying, vodacom and mtn just offers a transportation for the blackberrry service on there network and dont do the service themselfs.

BTW did any of you know that SA connecteds to a Blackberry server int europa and ther is none this side ?

Correct me if i am wrong, stil learning alot in this world. :erm: Like a guy from leaf(HTC) telling me today dat email is free.

SFW007, couldnt give a damn if u could understand ancient egyptian - I wasnt talking to you - and Ill continue to post whatever I want to post. If you have a problem with it, avert your eyes. Im sure you can handle that?

w1tw0lf, fyi - check this out:

http://www.blackberry.com/app_includes/devicesoftware/appworld/appworld_availability_en.html

Yip i know about that page. But still stick to what i said earlier, it isnt blocked by carrier but by rim themselves :) Stand to be corrected thou.

Relax no need to get so angry :) One day on africa time we will have all the futures availble to us. Do yourselve a favour and check all the accesories you can get for blackberries made them for blackberries that we dont even get. We live in a 3rd world country and dont always get all the nice stuff to play with. I am a gadget freak and if i could get half the stuff that is available out there, i wont eve be posting here as i would play with all of them all the time. :D

Screw the beer, im going straight for the whiskey =)

And im not angry - i believe discussion is healthy. But i get angry when people who dont contribute to anything tell me to keep quiet (no names mentioned)
