Blackberry bold/storm pricing

Really? I assume it's for Telkom internet subscribers only? Will visit McD's more often now. Thanks Bwana. Oh and Dudley turns out Garmin is just for US, but you can use Amaze for free on the Bold.
As I recall it came/comes with every ADSL line regardless of who you got your bandwidth though.

Does the Bold have a GPS receiver build in or does it only use A-GPS?

thanx for the info Oronte, Amaze, cool,

its got proper GPS receiver built in.

i dare to say u will end up getting the Bold, if u like the e90, bold is definitely going to tickle your funny bone

if only MTN had stock, damn!!!

instead, now i have to end up taking a freeking crappy Omnia

so in the end, u end up with a device u didnt actually want :)

latest news in, MTN getting Bold stock next week or latest first week in Dec, seeing is believing, so I'm afraid its back to the waiting game folks.....WTF, I've been waiting 2 weeks now for the stupid Omnia. I will cancel and get the Bold, its a sweet phone

There, there Dudley, calm down if you keep going like this you're going to have a heart attack. Do what I'm doing: just sign up with MTN Direct now and then they can just deliver the phone when they have stock. It can only be a good sign when a brand new phone goes out of stock everywhere almost immediately.

Storm costs nearly 3 times as much on Vodacom as Bold does on MTN and there's no evidence to suggest it's actually better. Personally I couldn't get along without a proper keyboard.

Bold or Storm?!!

I'm finding more and more the bigger screen, in landscape, makes much more sense. E-mails and web pages are much more readable.

I switched back to my Bold only once this week (when the battery on the Storm ran out:mad:)

Jury still out, but I'm beginning to like the Storm quite a lot. Don't even know where my iPhone is.....

Vodashop Menlyn quoted me R124 pm for the Storm on a 24 month BusinessCall contract, therefore R124 + R185 = R309 pm. Alternatively, R2 500 pay-in and the R185 pm.

On MTN side the prices are as follows. I am on a Pro Call 120 contract so I got the following deal. I am staying on my Procall 120 contract with a pay in amount of R1899 once off.

MTN is in the process of changing the contracts overall and its called Anytime contracts.
So you need to choose a new Anytime contract.

The pay in prices on the Anytime contracts is as follows which includes the UNLIMITED email and in device browsing.

Anytime 50 - R6289 pay in
Anytime 100 - R4919 pay in
Anytime 200 - R3599 pay in
Anytime 350 - R2899 pay in
Anytime 500 - R2399 pay in
Anytime 750 - R1899 pay in
Anytime 1200 - R1399 pay in
Anytime 1500 - R899 pay in

Please remember they can put the pay in amount on the contract for the 24 months.
For instance my wife took the Anytime 350 contract which is R350 and she chose the Bold so it came to a amount of R469 x 24 months which includes +- 180 minutes of talk time, 50 included sms and the Unlimited email and on device browsing.

How sure are you about the unlimited email and on device browsing being included? I just came from Nashua and according to them, you still need to pay R69pm on top of your Anytime contract's fee, for BIS. Unless I'm missing the point of BIS?

That's just Nashua. MTN SP includes it. I'm paying R350 a month for my Bold on MTN Anytime 200 with BIS included, not sure about the pay-in deals though.

I'll go confirm with them this evening. I think you may be correct, as all Nashua does is sell contracts from the SP's, as far as I know, and they should offer very similar deals.
Thanks for the info.

That makes the Storm basically the same price as the Bold. A R3599 pay in on anytime200 is the same price as paying R350x24 for the Bold.

Nice one MTN. Such a pity about all the problems people are having with the Storm though.

How is the Storm the same price as the Bold?
The Storm is R1000 a month on Vodacom. I hope you're not comparing Business Call because that includes nothing - no minutes, no airtime, no BIS. Business Call is basically like a 24 month installment plan rather than a cellular contract.

I've been following the posts on crackberry.com and see a lot of posts about "battery-pull" there.

Yet, my own Storm have not hung on me once since I got it. And today, for no reason I can figure out, my battery life drastically improved. Normally by 6PM the battery is dead and it's now nearly midnight with more than half left.

Very weird, maybe those posts that said the battery improves after a few cycles were true.

Anyone tried .100 yet?
