And i was able to access the forum on my device.. Strange.
Maybe it fluctuates alot.

I have a blackberry tour whichs is suppose to be HSDPA and HSUPA 7.2mbps but I never get above 1000kbps. Maybe one day I will get that right.

My latest speedtest result I don't really trust the speedtest app as I've been getting max speed results in excess of 10000kbits/s during the last few weeks while pages were timing out. But let's see how long it lasts.

so it sounds that you are stuck either way with getting a BlackBerry for the "amazing free internet service". Go with MTN and you dont get any support, go with Vodacom and their service is over subscribed (cant belive they still deny this absolute fact, just do one search for BlackBerry on this site to see why). So I guess right now a BlackBerry is a no go, oh man how I miss O2 now :(

luckily I checked the forums before signing my 24 month contract with Vodacom. I was about to get the Bold this week, so were two mates of mine (they were goin for the Storm). but after reading all of the reports on the crappy BIS vodacom offers, will give it a pass right now. Cant believe Vodacom can be so stupid though, they could have gained most of the BlackBerry market, but with speeds like that noboddy will renew their contract. ah well, good ol SA> ;)

The new Blackberry Bold 9700 with Trackpad is on the horizon as is the new Blackberry Storm 2, both to be offered by MTN, hopefully before Xmas.

I will know by 24 October whether I can endorse the VC BIS or not, which will be indicated by my sig which incidently is in use on every forum that I am a member of, with the appropriate link to the Speed tests thread which probably accounts for the high incidence of new hits daily.

Just an act of kindness to allow prospective Blackberry subscribers to make a more informed choice before committing to 24 months of poor service.

I was with MTN - yes their BIS might be better at the moment but their billing is badly skrewed! I have had countless fights with them regarding billing issues. Secondly they don't have such an nice "vodacom4me" site experience.

Wish you all the best - I'm sticking it out till the 24th and hope for the best.

For billing you can try https://active.mtn.co.za/mtnsc/

I am looking around for it and will let you know if it is put up for download again.

I would like to know what exactly it tests when the Blackberry user base on Vodacom connects to it (what servers does it access in what countries and what part of the link does it test since there are many facets that make a browser connection work)

I have made enquiries and am waiting on answers.

+1 I had a problem connecting so I deleted it. The .186 works but I'd like .190 too.

i called them from my cell yesterday and none who came to the phone could answer basically the same Q`s you mentioned.

Eventually they advised that i send a mail , which i did , awaiting their feedback
