Blood Pressure...

My wife had a cardiac arrest and the doc advised her to add cayenne pepper daily to her diet. Turmeric and cumin will slow down cancer growth. Not eradicate it.

Good morning

Are you guys still eating healthy, my bp is back to normal I am on bilocor (beta block).

Well, my 2018 started off with BP behaving...but.... be feeling rather lethargic, first day back at gym for 2018...after 15 min of my HITT, I threw in the towel...just could no get into the "zone" , felt really crap afterwards... the prelude...now for the zapper...around the same period , I have been noticing my urine being rather dark,...as if I was dehydrated. Upped my water intake...did not really change it, thought the excess of the festive making its way out of my system....Monday morning pee, noticed it had gone from dark yellow...to a rather brown colour! and poo was a putty like texture and gray, double ! triple !- feeling itchy all over, especially at night!

Anyways after a quick search on the active ingredient, Losartan, of one of my meds, Zartan ..was placed on it about 4 months ago...so adverse reaction to the meds, - effecting normal liver function.... stopped taking them, pharmacist recommend 1/2 'ing dosage...said **** that, will rather go cold turkey. Will see my doctor only on Monday, as she was been away...to see what damage has been caused to my liver and kidneys...BP is now hovering around the 135/82 - slightly elevated - most likely will increase as more of the Zartan leaves my system...by then will have seen my doc....yahoo, just the way

My weight has gone down from 105kg to 81kg and it seems to have a positive impact on my blood pressure. The weight loss wasn't really deliberate. I was quite sick, quite a few times during last year during which peroids I wouldn't eat for two or more days. Was at the specialist for my yearly checkup yesterday and its at 125/80, where we struggled to keep it below 140/90 in previous years.

You're posting that now!!! I'm on my way to the liquor store to buy my weekend's supply :p

But thanks, I've come to a point where I feel that beer doesn't fsck with my BP as much as spirits do. So I'm trying to stick to beer.

:D

It's neither, it's the weight lol. Eat healthy dude.

Due to my wife's recent chronic illness I have to take her BP every 5 hours so I take the opportunity to sommer take mine as well.
Mine is good and in range during the day but I like my tipple at night and as I'm a health freak and know wine does not have many vitamins so I have to drink a lot of it. This elevates my BP by 15 points. :(

Gonna follow that reasoning as well from now on :D Thanks!

You are just treating the simptome, better to find the cause of your HB and fix that. Do you really want to be on meds for the rest of your life?
I am in agreement here.

My BP over the last 2 years went up to around 140/90 and the Doctor put me on Prexum. I'm 53 years of age.
So I started looking for the causes for the BP and in my case it was mild sleep apnea (Tested at 12 Apneas an hour), being overweight and stress. Certain events in my life over the last 2 years led to me gaining weight together with elevated stress levels. The Doctor did his job by prescribing the meds but I don't want to live on BP Pills nor think its a wise by treating the symptoms and not the cause, so I took it upon myself to change my diet and have lost 10 to 15Kgs in the last 6 months. I went to the Sleep Clinic and got myself a CPAP Machine and in my opinion it has changed my life. I am now on 0.27 Apneas an hour according to my latest data download and as someone suggested here on this forum a page before this one I have also tried to adopt a "I don't give a damn attitude" as worrying/fretting about everything is seriously bad for your health.
More recently I had some Nasal Polyps removed and overall my breathing has improved even more. The recent download of data from my CPAP Machine at 0.27 Apneas an hour suggests its working well.

You get to know you body, I can even sense when my blood pressure is going up, usually stress related being the reason most of the time, but one of my early warning signs is mild tinnitus (ringing in the ears like the sound of crickets) and once my blood pressure drops again to below 120/80 it goes away.

So while my story isn't going to help everyone, it may give some people clues as to what causes unnaturally high blood pressure levels other than simply getting older.
I do believe that many people in this country probably don't know they suffer from sleep apnea. The obvious clues are being overweight and heavy snoring coupled with intermittent periods of no breathing and then sudden gasps for air. You would need to ask your partner, a friend or house mate to monitor your snoring sounds to alert you to sleeping irregularities. Apneas restrict your lungs from getting a constant flow of air and in so much a lack of air to your body would mean that your blood pressure would increase to compensate.
After a year of using my CPAP Machine I don't like sleeping without it. I also don't snore any more which is a bonus for my wife.

I have stopped taking the BP Pills on a regular basis and have bought myself my own BP Kit. I do find that my BP when checked is higher at the Doctor than when I do it at home. They call that the White Coat Syndrome apparently?

Hope my experience helps someone.

Good morning

I'm going for work medical check up Wednesday, so as from today I'm going to monitor my blood pressure. So far it's been behaving the doctor put me on six months prescription of beta block.

I hope it wouldn't disappoint me a lot is riding on this medical check up.

Take your BP Machine with you to show him your results. My Tensoval machine has 60 memory slots.
As you are probably anxious about this check up, I hope the Doctor's result isn't too skewed by white coat syndrome.

White coat hypertension, more commonly known as white coat syndrome, is a phenomenon in which patients exhibit a blood pressure level above the normal range, in a clinical setting, though they don't exhibit it in other settings.
