BMW 320i vs 320D: your choice?

Now you're worrying me, why? :P You're a dealer yourself aren't you, you know exactly what these things would go for. I don't mind sharing, but I think having a lot of people pointing and laughing at me at this delicate moment would be kinda sad.

Yum. They have TWO on the floor of BMW Midrand, including one in Protonic Red that looks amazeballs. They're unlocked and everything, so little old me could press the door unlock and swing open the gull wing ... wasn't brave enough to try scramble into the cockpit, which looks like it needs extreme contortion.

Be honest this is you now?

Congrats.

Out of interest. Insurance? Who are you with. I am changing to BMW insurance. Originally they were the very expensive. Now they are pretty much the cheapest...at least in my instance.
Thanks :) Haven't decided, BMW hasn't offered me their insurance yet, but maybe that'll come tomorrow. I already got a quote from my insurance provider which wasn't too bad (like R270 more for the difference between a Citroen C3 and a BMW 320i -> sounded about right to me).

Nothing fancy like you bru, sounds like you bought a beauty. We demand photos, you understand.

Mine is a 2012 Micra Acenta 1.2.
That's a deal buddy, that's a deal. And congrats on the Micra, I was in the group of motoring journalists who flew down to Cape Town to test-drive that model when it launched in the country, so I've got some good memories (mostly involving the questionable food and bad weather), but I was impressed with the Micra's interior quality.

Be honest this is you now?
It will be on Saturday :D Alas my car is costing a tad more than 4 cents.

Glad you went ahead with it! I can see you've been itching for quite some time. I hope she treats you well.

Thanks Splinter and bromster :)

It's high time I got into one of these just to figure out what they're all about. There are so many 'little' things that it turns out I just didn't know. For example, how many people here knew that you have to pull twice on the bonnet release to open the 3 Series' bonnet? There isn't a catch around the front of the bonnet like on all other cars: once you pull twice, you can lift the bonnet right up. *mind blown* And so it goes, will be sure to give y'all a decent review real soon.

I only know that cos of this bloke. He goes in depth about all BMW vehicles ...lol. It's like that for all BMW's I believe.

High revs? You don't know how to drive a diesel then :p :D

hehe - no high revs with a diesel. Admittedly, I have only driven a couple of low powered diesel cars. Torque was impressive. In traffic. But nothing compares to a decent turbo-petrol engine when you really thrashing it.

Yeah, like the diesels that win at Le mans. Oh, wait, you're the muppet that revs the **** out of a diesel. Never mind.

And there it is. Thanks pinball wizard. We finally had a thread where nobody had called anybody else a muppet for seven pages.

Please keep the sniping to the other threads, let's leave this to a genuine automotive discussion.

Spandex purple. It's a bright purple colour, looks more exciting than it sounds lol. Insurance is gonna love me for it, however, and I can live with it.

Also, it's a deep metallic green but actually apparently it's grey even though it looks green so who knows.
