BMW 320i vs 320D: your choice?

Spandex purple. It's a bright purple colour, looks more exciting than it sounds lol. Insurance is gonna love me for it, however, and I can live with it.

Also, it's a deep metallic green but actually apparently it's grey even though it looks green so who knows.

Oh look at you with the invisible quotes. And just as I thought that your car might have a good chance of matching those tights you like wearing everywhere.

:crylaugh:

I'll take some photos and show you what I mean. Officially it's grey though it looks green to me. Why does the colour affect your insurance? Cost to respray in case of damage?

Visibility. I've been informed by an insurance broker before that lighter colours have significantly lower premiums than darker colours, purely due to the risk factor of the poorer visibility on the road.

And please do, feel free to share them here. We can have our very own gold dress/blue dress.

Not so sure about wearing dresses but I'll post pics all the same.

Now what about if you put neons under your car, surely that increases visibility?

Apart from the fact that neons are illegal? You might be better off going for lumo green rims.

Learning your rights from a cheese sandwich like Fast and Furious is your first mistake :D When are you taking delivery of your car? We can totally do a drag race this weekend. I'm only getting mine on Saturday morning ... the agony!

Just got the insurance quote, R570 fully comprehensive :D

We can drag race this weekend, I'm sure my 1.2L NA will keep up with your 2.0L T just fine, it's all in the gear shifts.

Totally. If you'd watched the latest Fast and the Furious, you'd know that ;)

Thanks for depressing me about the insurance, mine is gonna be like double that. There goes my Pizza Hut money lol.

Lol. I'd gladly pay an extra 570 for the upgrade :D

Talk to Luke on insurance, mine went from R960 to R570...

Yeah, I'll do some fishing around later, for this first month I'll take the added knock. I've already got Tracker and my e-Tag (*the horror*) to switch across, so I can't face changing insurers as well right now.

Now that you're in a car like the rest of us normal folk and not a motorbike you might want to consider getting one, you can't run away from the JMPD as easily :p

Sorry, I'm no gazupta sponsor, I shall gladly forego this buffoonery and spend my money on something more important like McDonalds, or possibly crepe paper.

Without creating a new thread. What should I look out for on used bmw 320D F30 Auto?

Really want to switch to auto and something that has comfy seats.

The car looks like the car of my dreams on the pictures, hope it is when I go and look at it later today.

I will be taking out after market warranty to cover the gearbox/turbo etc.

From the sounds of it, you're not getting it through BMW? It is critical that you get the car's VIN number and ask BMW if they can show you the mechanical history, specifically related to if the servicing was done on time and whether there are any comments of any kind on the record (that's where it'd indicate if the vehicle was in an accident).

Something else you can do (you'd just have to read up how -> I've only seen it done once) is use the i-Drive controller in the vehicle to check the vehicle maintenance status and see what's necessary and in how many km. It will tell you when the oil change, brake disc replacement and a major service need to be performed (there's a fourth thing too, I forget). That will help you see how long you've got until you'll have to spend money.

Finally, pay special attention to the tire condition. BMW's run flat tires aren't cheap, specifically the more exotic ones that come on the sporty rims.

On a personal note, what trim line are you interested in? M Sport (red line), Luxury Line (wood), standard (gray plastic)? Personally I'd avoid a high-mileage M Sport coz you know it'll have been thrashed harder than most. Good luck with it, let us know how it goes. I'm picking up my new baby tomorrow morning, bright and early! :D
