I recently found a bunch of people who play board games and I'm having a lot of fun with them. These aren't your average Monopoly or Clue type games which I found out very quickly.

I havent played very many

- Marco Polo
- DC Deck builder
- Sherlock
- Splendor

Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a game that they probably wouldn't have so I can host an evening?

Settlers of Catan is a favorite of mine,

Dixit is rather fun as well, as is Dominion

Colloseum(My fav)
Ticket to ride (America and Europe)
Scythe

But as an entry level, give Takenoko a try. Moerse fun

Ohh, forgot ticket to ride :)

Settlers of Catan is a good one, though I prefer it with the expansions

Depending on your group, you something mathy that is all about efficiency, try Power Grid

My group quite enjoys Libertalia, a pirate card game about looting a ship.

A personal favourite of mine is Dead of Winter, but rarely comes out as others find it complicated for some reason

I'll need to check:

Great game, very thematic. The semi cooperative element is great. With a betrayer potentially in the camp, things can get very uneasy towards the end of the game as resourses become scarce and people start behaving weirdly. On my first play through the betrayer was the most helpful person because they had to keep us alive long enough.

Almost forgot to mention Cyclades, one of the few games I actually manage to win

Which would you recommend that don't require a huge time investment learning & playing but can instead get playing quite quick?

Splendor is easy 5-10 mins rule reading and off you go.
DC Deck builder takes one or 2 games to get used to but feels like there are maybe 3 winning strategies so gets old quick.
Sherlock is lots of reading and long
Marco polo is a lots of rules

Edit: splendor you can also play 2 player which is cool.

Shot for the games guys keep them coming doing lots of YouTube on them at the moment.

Dominion
Ticket to ride
Lords of Waterdeep
We absolutely love Mageknight and Gloomhaven but those are quite expensive if you're starting out. We also rarely have time to play anymore :(

Card games I'd suggest:
Exploding Kittens
Unstable Unicorns
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza (kinda like snap, lots of fun)

I might be willing to sell some of our games if you're keen.

Not the ones listed, but I can send you a list of games we have but never play

For board/Card games it depends a lot on how many people you have but the ones I can recommend are:

Catan (+Expansion if you have more people)
Spot it
Saboteur
Avalon
30 Seconds (most people have this though)

I'll add Pandemic to the list of recommendations.

Sometimes it is refreshing to play a purely co-operative game, and this one is a classic.
