Boy stabbed over 'racist' hello

Well I guess your input to this and other threads speak for itself. No need to prove it to myself or anyone else who read here. They can surely read for themselves.

I was merely asking what happened to the 2 of you? You post a comment and then run instead of answering the question... but that is a common trait from you
;)

Dude has this thread taught you nothing... People get stabbed for less

Kids these days are just way to aggresive, this kid - 3rd party/stabber - probably had a bad night the evening before in dota or some such bollocks and ended up stabbing someone because of it. Hearing the word used prolly pushed him over theedge lol.

/me starts beating Blaze over the head with his +10 hammer of might from lack of EVE. Stop blaming games! :D

Was meant as a bit of an ironic joke as these days games and rap are to blame for everything... My sig must show you I play a lot of games :) Games = win!

That sort of language is just not on. It does not matter if the guy he was addressing was his adopted brother FFS!

At what point do we stop taking offence to labels and words? Surely it's more constructive to be able to laugh about our past together than to sweep it under the carpet and hold on to antiquated hatred? We have kwaito songs using the k-word (usually as a reference to another black man); we have people like Fresh who sees nothing wrong with using the word within the correct context and was happy to be fined R10k for playing a song that used the word; we have black people who use the word themselves in normal conversation; comedians use the k-word in stand-up shows; I have a mate who calls me soutie and I call him the k-word (but we're careful about when and where we do that which these lads should have been). IMO it's far healthier to laugh together and embrace our past than to sweep it under the carpet and avoid all references for the sake of offending someone, or in this case, be stabbed.

The kid who stabbed the other certainly isn't old enough to have been offended by apartheid and is in the perfect position not to make a big deal out of what should be something that is embraced - two kids of different races becoming such good mates that labels and words between them are no longer offensive to either of them. Yet he chose to perpetuate the problem. Sad really...

I wish everyone would grow up and rather see humour instead of offence in those words.

I wish people like you would grow up enough to realise that THERE IS NO HUMOUR IN THAT WORD, espicially when used by a white person!!!! I don't give a toss what the explanation is. It was AND IS being used often as a way of belittling anything that has to do with being a black man in this country. I don't know what you don't understand in that. I can use that word with no problems because i'm black. Why are whites soooo hellbent on minimisisng its significance?

Oh boy, here we go. You obviously have not grown out of the offence the word has generated, looky.... we are in the new millenium.

Time to move on.

Why are blacks soooo hellbent on minimisisng the significance of Mlungu ?

in case you did not read the article the stabber is 15 years old. How can the word ****** be derogatory to him ?

And the black guy who called his friend a boertjie? Does it apply to him too?

Enough with the self pity - most of us want to move on from the past but by constantly bringing negative attention to a few words, people like you don't seem to want to. Sticks and stones and all that.

And no, I'm not white.

Oh noes! Dude how old are you? I mean really a word is a word is a word. What about mlungu, whitie, cracker, soutie, the list goes on and on. But because of the aprtheid era the word ****** is the devil. Pot and kettle my man pot and kettle! Now get back to cleaning my garden [See the irony in this statement]

.. a word is a word is a word. What about mlungu, whitie, cracker, soutie, the list goes on and on.

cracker? not heard that one.

The difference is in the context and intent and that most whites are mature enough not to take blind offence with those words.

Maybe that is what really pushes the blacks buttons, they have no word for whites that gets under their skin quite like the k-word that rolls off the tongue so well.

Well me and my mates play around sort of like that? Just harmless playing around....but remember MY FRIENDS :)

maybe its because blacks have been mature all along not to create demeaning, belittling & derogatory terms for others...
and it is not because the word rolls off the tongue, it is because there are extremely painful memories associated with the word for them. when will these animals get that:sick:
