Boycott 2010 World Cup

The minute I see the word '******' used it loses all objectivity whatsoever.

I don't think we could ever blame a world cup failure on a simple website or naysayers. Not with our government and ol' Julias. They have done more damage to this world cup the last few months than anyone else could have done unfortunately. But then again, if it has saved some tourists lives, good thing. For the rest it would be a gamble. Let's face it, there will be international deaths over that period. That is the biggest thing that scares me, and witless I must add.

You really think julias and his cronies have had a bigger impact on this WC than the insane accommodation and air fare prices combined?

If so, you really need a wakeup call!

sigh, i won't be going to any of the games, ticket prices just tooo steep but I do hope the WC is a great success!
I even like checked one of these games you don't even watch on Tv I think it was in PE of all places and stoopid prices, maybe they will reduce them as the games get closer?

I hope the event itself is just too big to be harmed by all the negativity - plus on soccer Fridays its actually cool to see how many people actually wear yellow shirts - which I'm assuming is ours and not Brazil?

ps/ stupid site i op link, I don't feel like a refugee, and who the **** wants to go live with the frikken polar bears in frikken ice cold canada???

Not planning on boycotting the WC, but not planning on going either, as I am not interested in soccer. But, hope it works out for those that are.

The idea of a boycott is rather stupid if you consider the whole thing.

While ticket sales are important, thats not where the real money is. Thats sitting with the broadcast rights and networks. Some people boycotting a game, won't even be felt as there are enough soccer mad peeps in the country to easily outweigh those.

Drop in the proverbial bucket.

How are you going to boycott the world cup? Refuse to watch games on TV? Refuse to do business tourists bring?
Honestly, the mentality here... "Oh yes, we have high crime, so lets boycott an auspicious event that brings long term benefits and investment.."

I'm not worried about boycotts ... what I _AM_ worried about are fools like COSATU etc. who will make use of the worldwide broadcasts to launch a massive strike. They're fond of toi-toi'ing at sporting events when there are cameras around.

You may describe this website as a simple one. You may even be correct. It still has an impact. There has been a concerted campaign for a number of years by right wing organisations that call for a boycott. I am under correction, but this website was created by Adriana Stuit. She used to live here, but currently lives in the Netherlands. She has a number of Dutch websites as well.

I think the idea here is to prevent tourists from coming to the WC. It seems to have had an impact overseas.
Do you guys remember the Nestle Boycott for trading with Mugabe's wife?
The very same people were involved. They did have a tremendous impact then.
