So, I applied for the Telkom 3 month free ADSL offer, since I've never been a Telkom customer and always considered having a line installed. The promotion was quite timely, seeing as I've been struggling with 3G reception (on Vodacom) now for quite some time. I did a bit of research and realized that the small, 2km radius area of Midrand where I live is like a veritable no-man's-land of broadband - it's not under Vodacom, MTN, Cell C or 8ta's official 3G coverage maps! So I welcomed the Telkom promotion with open arms and applied the day after the promotion started.
Everything went well, I got 2 phone calls and a promise of installation and a reference number within 48 hours. 3 weeks later I still haven't received ANY feedback. This morning I went to the Telkom Direct store in the Boulders shopping center in Midrand, only to find out that my area isn't "ADSL ready" and I can POSSIBLY have a line installed 20 December 2011.
How on earth can such a SMALL part of Midrand pretty much be considered broadband-less, with close to no coverage from ANY provider, whilst the areas surrounding me are pretty much covered by any and all forms of broadband???
