regard, they didn't say anything about NOT being able to install. I'm sure they would have said something if there was a problem. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll let you know if there are any problems.

At this point in time, anything is better than Sensh!t for me. I'm throwing money in the water on 3KBps downloads - it's just not worth it. I'd rather have lighting fast downloads for two weeks, and dial-up speed for the rest of the month, than have dial-up for the whole month. I'll come back to Sentech, once they sort their "teething problems" out. It used to be a fantastic service, until they started mucking about with it... it's been 4 months now and I haven't seen ANYTHING above 10KBps - broadband my @ss!

btw, just when you thought Sentech couldn't get MORE pathetic. On the fax that I sent them I made it CLEAR that I only want them to cancel the "service" at the end of the month, as I've paid 'till then. Get home last night... service suspended... argh!!!

so today it's me and Sentech!

Sentech is still a viable option for a lot of people. Not everyone is downloading 24/7 or using it for gaming, p2p or streaming. Granted we are getting less speed than promised but it's still not as expensive as being 24/7 on a modem via Telkom costswise.

It's called false advertsing.

and about gettting the service we were used to. and NO CAPS. the way local is working now is how it should ALL be working. This is disregarding the billing, proxy, helpdesk, lies etc. For now its about speed not so? Nobody mentions the support, billing etc when considering ADSL

this is also true... at least Telkom has something that resembles support... I think [xx(]

We'll have to see how it goes. Like I said, I'd rather have lighting fast for two weeks, then snailsh!t slow the whole month.

I'm tired of Sentech's nonsense, it's not funny anymore.

Last time I delt with Telkom's Help Desk for ADSL they were as useless as Sentech's.

"Your application for ADSl was removed because we cannot supply the service due to any of the following reasons" I then got a list of 5 possible reason neither of which told me what I can do to get the service or what they need to do to be able to supply the service. Telkom also states that their ADSL service is a beta service and they cannot guarantee anything. Pretty much like Sentech.

a BETA service? it's been available for over a year now, if not longer! that's WAY past BETA! oi ve!

well, I guess we'll see what happens. Last time I tried (before Sentech) the exchange I connected to was a go for ADSL. It just didn't have enough ports available.

I don't think it's BETA anymore. That advertise it as "Tried, Tested, Reliable"

kareda, you do get some cheaper DSL modems yeh.

There is an option to get the modem for free with Telkom, but you have to sign a two year contract. Which some might not want to do. Then again, any contract can be gotten out of *grin*

I think Telkom's modems are R780.

Cyberdyne have the ACEEX ADSL-PRO/2 PCI Modem for R295.00 ex VAT and the ACEEX ADSL-USB/9 USB Modem for R330 ex VAT.

Well, on the pricelist I have anyways. check out www.cyberdyne.co.za - you can find their pricelist on their site.

Hope that helps.

if you don't want to get those, I know about a company that can provide you with a modem that they highly recommend, but it's about R500.

drop me a mail if you want more info.
