Bulletproof Coffee

So while there is nothing wrong with taking your fats elsewhere and blending it into your smoothies (heck, I put my fats into my protein shakes sometimes)

You must realise that the whole point of bulletproof coffee is to not disguise your source of Omega-3s and healthy fats by using coffees strong taste to do this

The point of BPC is that these fats sort of bind onto caffeine which makes the digestion of caffeine slower, hence giving you a "slow release" of caffeine as opposed to a typical caffeine spike that we all know

Since BPC I have gone from having 3 cups of coffee a day to 2 cups of coffee a day

I use thinkorganics grassfed butter unsalted but kerrygold is the closest thing you can get off the shelf to it. It is important to use grassfed butter here, the omega fats in grass fed vs corn fed butter is night and day, dont even bother with corn fed butter.

You can even make a weird coffee shake if you mix your BPC with whey protein and blend it. The heat will kill the BCAAs in your protein shake but will not alter the dairy protein at all

Now if caffeine was a health requirement in my day I'd say yes, but I'm trying to avoid it - it affects me negatively. While it puts me on a buzz, I have a hard time getting up without it when I'm drinking it regularly.

Been trying this with quarter fresh cream, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Douwe Eggberts or Nescafe Gold, Hot not boiling water.

I'm hooked. Great filler.

It might be a great filler, but it doesn't sound like less calories than eating something?

No, its not lower in calories, nor is it supposed to be. The idea is to move your fuel source from carbohydrates to fats.

That's the point of ketosis, not bulletproof coffee. If your diet hasn't dropped you into nutritional ketosis or it's not something you're actively working towards - drinking a cup of BP coffee isn't going to do get you there. Sure - you might get some negligible amount of ketone bodies produced by the liver but...that's not really the point of BP coffee. The point is that fats are satiating and the caffeine is a hunger suppressant.

The less salt in bpc the better. If you talk about salty coffee anywhere in the world you'll be executed without trial.

Creamy and oily yes, but stay the fek away from salt.

I use Macadamia, Coconut Oil with fresh cream. no butter.

Delish.

Except this isn't an exercise in making perfect coffee.
It's about making BP coffee, and for me the taste of salt & fats in coffee is nicer than without the salt.

It's about making BP coffee, and for me the taste of salt & fats in coffee is also way nicer than without the salt.

that's true... i prefer the salted butter, not actual salt... i tried fixing the unsalted butter with salt, and it was just undrinkable :D :D
