It's still good okay!

Don't you dare try to give me that red pill, I am happy with BK for now so don't make me think about what it could have been.
Ignorance is bliss! (It really is)

burger king here was OK, but tasted way better in Dubai and Bahrain when I tried it - even microwaved

Bloody hell! What a turnaround! From the bacon town crier himself.

You know, I made a big fuss because that's when we had our chance - before launch.
Now, it's too late. So we can either accept it and be happy, or keep crying. I don't think moaning now will accomplish anything, so I don't.

Speaking generally; South Africans are pushovers. There's a growing worldwide movement against Jizyah/Halaal/Islamification. I've had the real BK in the UK, so I can without it for now (along with KFC, MD's, etc. in SA). I'm only eating non-Halaal from now on & feel better off for it. You can call it a boycott, but then again that's what the majority of Muslims have been doing in reverse forever now.

Do not get keeper started again. His reveling in his ignorance.

Finally had Burger King at cavendish today. The queue went quickly, waited 15 min for the food, which is on par with steers in my experience. The whopper was good, I had it before in Dubai, and this burger was better.

Mom had a steak house burger, it was the size of a McDonalds junior burger. It was disappointing.

Can't wait to go back actually, I had a misbehaving baby with me, so it was takeaway. Next time I'll sit down there.

Had BK in Town this evening, 8 mins to get an order of 3 burgers, large fries and 3 sets of sides. Burgers were fresh and hot, chips crispy. All the food was tasty accept the onion rings

Overall, great first outing will be going back soon.

You wrote about every other than the burger itself. :erm: All u wrote about the burger was, " I pulled out my Whopper (get your mind out of the gutter) and took a bite. It was pretty much what I expected. Tasty, but not mind-blowing." :wtf:

Sorry if I didn't go into a lot of detail. What can I say about it when there's nothing about it that stands out? I suppose I could have described how it's made from a bun, has a piece of meat in the middle and some tomato sauce and some lettuce? I suppose I could have gone into detail about the patty, or the quality of the meat in the burger... but while I don't go into a lot of detail about the actual burger itself, I do clarify overall how it compares to other take out:

The Whopper was about as tasty as Steers’ mid-range burgers.

And regarding the fries, they have slightly different flavouring on them, but overall the style of the fries is closest to McD's. They're nothing like Nandos, KFC or Steers fries, so I used the closest point of reference that most people would have.

I did the write-up to include food, but it was as much about the other things that might make someone choose to go there, or not go there - hence the title being "The Burger King Experience" as opposed to "Burger King Food Review". The things that might also affect people's decision to go there are things like, wait for it... the queues, drinks, seating.

However the criticism has been noted and if I do another "restaurant/takeout review", I'll go into more detail - if the food warrants it.

I've still not had this and frankly not bothered anymore.

My local Pakistani guys have been sorting my junk food cravings out.
Tikka Chicken and chips for like R20 with a roll.
Sorted for now :p

Think I'll grab a double whopper with cheese and bacon for lunch... just because I can. ;)

It's died down almost completely at Tygervalley now. Short queues sometimes 5-7PM, but that's all. Will never go there & no longer support McD's, KFC, Nando's or any other Halal chains/outlets. Stuff having to pay extra to eat in accordance with somebody else's superstitions.

Then you must still check the Chicken Wrap - chicken breast, chips and salad in a roti for R30 ;)

Flame grilled and basted with tikka - think I'll grab one a bit later :D

Sounds good. What and where is this place?

Bump..

Oops - sorry for the late reply :)

Wajid's and Ahmed's are on Dennegeur Avenue Strandfontein.

Wajid's now also has a second branch that's opened up on 5th Avenue, Grassy Park, near Lake Road - across from the road Progress Hardware.

Actually picked up a Steak & Cheese Gatsby with Danya and Chilli sauce from the new branch last night.

The following image is a Google search result, but it gives you an idea of how they prepare the chicken for you:

I'm not a big chicken lover, but a quarter chicken, breast side, done right by these guys - leaves me satisfied. :D

ProTip: Wajid's in Grassy Park usually drop the price to R15 for Quarter chicken and chips with a roll over the weekend.
Seems they've been establishing themselves at their new venue and people are really queueing up.
