Well, by registering you are showing interest, and thus aiding towards the 20% take up mark (and it's actually 25% as far as I know) :p

The latest updates I received from FF (31 Oct, haven't received today's one yet):
---
Springfield Phase 2 is scheduled to commence today and is planned to be completed by next Friday. The dates for Phase 3 will be communicated thereafter.

The next complex and build dates will be announced soon.
---

You don't mention in which estate you are, so I can't really help specifically. If you give a bit more details I can most certainly ask the powers that be (i.e. account managers at FF) as to what is going on - if I can't look it up myself for you.

Hi Chris

I'm in the Zinfandel complex, registered like 4 months ago on FF and its been planned without ETA on their side ever since.
Would be great if you could help.

Thanks

Status = Planned.

You have enough signups (pre-orders). FF is busy dealing with landlords, civils companies, etc. to get the fiber deployed. No ETA yet, a completion date will (or should) be provided once the actual build starts.

Given the time of year (and freeze periods coming up), you'll more than likely get dates allocated in terms of completion next year. From the 16th of December on wards, pretty much nothing is going to happen.

Hi Chris

If you could give any clarification on the the status of FF FTTH at D'Vine Terraces (Veridian/Sienna) that would be tremendously appreciated.

26 July 2017:
Presented SADV site survey and proposal to Marite, Ursula provided the following feedback "Currently Frogfoot is busy to install fibre in the whole estate. Unfortunately I cannot inform you when they will be at D’Vine as they are busy in sections. They are also installing free of charge and I don’t think Burgundy Estate HOA will agree to another supplier."

6 Aug 2017
I contacted FF about what Marite said because D'Vine does not show up as anything planned on the coverage map

7 Aug 2017
Keyleigh from FF advised "We are currently In planning with no ETA at this time."

17 Aug 2017
I requested an update from FF, or for them to at least update their map to show that my complex was planned with no eta. Copied in the mail the SADV fibre survey and SADV Proposal.

21 Aug 2017
Kayleigh advised "We are currently in planning for your complex, however, we can’t provide an ETA at this time."

16 September 2017
FF posted "Burgundy Estate, ready to get #Fibredup?" on facebook, I commented asking if they are going to install at D'Vine.
Got a reply "D'Vine terraces are currently not on our route build. You can submit your interest on our portal here: https://www.frogfootfibre.com/fro.../myaccount/home/home.jsp"

17 October 2017
FF posted "Going live this week: Burgundy Estate: Springfield (Phase 1) is live Table View: Palms Resort will be live on 18 October" on facebook, I commented asking "@frogfoot can you advise on how I can apply to get fibre in D'Vine Terraces Burgundy Estate?".
Got a reply "we are currently in planning for your complex and will advise on dates when we have more information."

I feel I may need to move complexes to get fibre even though it was laid 4m away from my balcony.

Obligatory yes I have registered on ff site to show interest

Have a nice day

Other than that, there isn't really anything more available at this stage. I did email my AM at FF and asked for a bit more clarification / actual numbers in terms in pre-signups. That should at least give some idea in terms of where you guys are with the numbers. I have a suspicion that the min. number of pre-orders in the complex hasn't yet been met, and therefore it's not moving forward.

There's not much more from your side that you can do, except get your neighbors and others in the estate to pre-signup as well. They aren't going to roll out if there are 20 units in the estate but only 1 wants FTTH, I'm afraid.

Thanks for this Chris, it is appreciated.

I understand there may not appear to be enough interest at D'Vine but if FF would at least say that then then it would be clear that something needs to happen on my side. I am not a home owner and not invited to the meetings but I will try get the word out :)

Regards

The thread have gone stagnant?

Had a CellC rep taking names and numbers at Middelvlei of interested parties.

I'm moving to Springfield end of this month, notice Frogfoot is live there already.

Anyone signed up with Frogfoot?
And which ISP

Just FYI, at the recent Fibre braai day they held, I was told that all the complexes on the Frogfoot coverage map that don't have estimated completion dates are endeavoured to be finished before the end of the year.

The irony in all of this is that, IBIWISI.
In my own complex (not going to reveal which one, on a public forum), over 80% of the people are using Telkom LTE, which leads to massive congestion on the tower at certain times. That means, 80% potential client takeup for FTTH.
You can go crazy in the head when you think that this an untapped market, but the usual spanner in the works is MARITE and the HOA.

So, let's go look on frogfoot...
My complex is planned... no ETA....
Was like that last year...
Oh well, will try again in 2019.

I followed up with Frogfoot early last week. They can't confirm nor deny any date, so I asked them what can be done to speed up the process. Site Survey consent forms have now been sent to all of the remaining complexes that are planned. But yeah, I agree with you. I made an arrangement with work for them to pay a portion of my fibre. That arrangement was almost two years ago when Frogfoot started. I still don't have fibre. It seems laughable now when Webafrica handed out flyers to everyone saying, 6 months max.

Interesting... well yeah the things you talk about I did see.. especially that WebAfrica event (that was within walking distance from us) I still laughed and remarked at it being a futile exercise, because when MARITE is involved, you can basically just write it on your wall and wipe it off with a wet cloth.

Aside from Vox Telecom stuffing our postboxes full of pamphlets about how "wonderful" FTTH could be, nothing happens. No movement.
Nobody has been into the complex to do a site survey and if they did we would certainly know about it.

I personally think Middelvlei will get FTTH before us, if ever..

I didn't realize this thread is still going. But just for those who are interested, we were very set against Vodacom having monoploy in our complex, but I must say, I have had no real issues with the service. My line quality is really good even in bad weather (Dont think we have a backhaul connection yet).

I have not been following this thread for a while, but ArtyLoop, you can always speak to Savage about approaching your HOA.

Hey Guys do any of u use the Fusion "Fibre" solution provided by Sonic Telecoms, is it worth the effort or do we continue 2 wait for Frogfoot to eventually deliver. According to their site the max speed they provide in burgundy is 5mb. I just need 2 know what the experience is? Let me know guys

Frogfoot has now started with phase 5 of their deployment. They are very stingy with information about dates and which complexes. Our complex had a plan drawn up by frogfoot and was approved by the trustees two weeks ago. Presumably, this means about 6 months wait for me still, but I do have DSL although only 10mbps. As for wireless solutions, I can't comment, but I have heard two people in our complex the wireless connection they have (not sure who with) is quite slow and unreliable and very weather-dependent. Depending on what you plan to use to use internet for, you might be better of using some LTE package in the meantime. You might want to give Frogfoot a call and ask them if your complex is included in the latest phase. Seems like they have trouble getting in contact with certain complex BC's/HOA's.
