Hi Guys

Need some help deciding on what to get.

I have a budget of R17500 for my PC build (that includes the screen)

Was looking at evetech their prices seem to be the best.

specs I was looking at
i5 6500
H170 MB
16GIG DDR4 RAM
128GIG SSH + 1GIG HDD
GTX970 OC edition ( I still want to wait for the GTX1070 prices.)

I can spend abit more I need to.

What you think?

I would seriously consider waiting for the GTX 1070 even if you're going buy the GTX 970.
The price of the 970 should fall hard.
The rest of the setup should be fine.

You should buy A PC from http:/www.evetech.co.za/ buy the components Seperate and put it all together yourself. when it gets delivered to you ;)

That's what I had in mind. but still cant really get it in under budget. and I don't really wana sacrifice the SSD or ram.

Maybe consider swapping the h170 for a z170 and get an unlocked processor?. I think the performance gain will be worth the price difference.

did you check rebeltech.co.za prices evetech have always seemed pricey when I've compared hardware.

i am also looking into building a new gaming PC, i have watched a few videos and gone through a lot of benchmarks. One does not really need to get the latest Skylake, DDR3 is basically just as fast as DDR4, there is less than a 1% performance increase. The price increase does not justify the performance increase.
So rather get an older generation CPU/MB and Ram (just make sure its infact a I5 or I7), and invest more in your GPU, that's what really matters.

Anyone can correct me if i'm wrong here?

I don't really like overclocking.

Other than that I have the same setup. Run everything on the highest quality settings on 1080p, and haven`t yet seen any frame-rate drops to the point of it being noticeable.

+1 to wait for 1070 though. The price of the 970 have already started to drop.

I`ll vouch for wootware as well.

The price difference isn`t that significant either, in this case 6th gen cpu is even cheaper. (depending on whether you use the stock fan)
http://www.wootware.co.za/computer-hardware/cpus-processors

Intel i5-6600K 3.5 GHz - R4349 vs Intel i5-4690K 3.5 GHz R4523.

Honestly I have not checked the prices of Haswell, I only checked the benchmarks and the prices of Skylake, I assumed the previous generation would be cheaper.... :-/, This does not look bad though? http://www.gtxgaming.co.za/index.php?route=product/product&path=63&product_id=74 , Thats less that what the Skylake CPU alone will cost you.

You could also wait for the influx of second hand cards that hit the market when the 1070 and 1080 launch.

I'm personally waiting for the new AMD Polaris 10 cards before I make up my mind on a new card, in the interim I got myself a second hand 7970.

I'd also give another thumbs up for Wootware, it's a very pleasant experience ordering with them.

Here is a video that may help when deciding on a CPU for a gaming PC:

Do not buy a 128GB SSD! You will literally waste your money and time.

Rather get a 256GB and maybe only get a single 8GB ram which you can upgrade later by adding another 8GB module.

What's your budget for only the items listed?
CPU = 4.5k
Mobo = 3k
Ram = 1k
GPU = 5.5k

14k
