*CABLE BREAK* affecting Gauteng region

Good Article

Picture it:

It's the final of the 2O1O soccer world cup .. the game is drawn at 2-2 and a pensive second half awaits. More than 60 million viewers world wide are enthralled at the spectacle.

Meanwhile, a small plumbing team has begun working on a what appears to be a leaky water pipe near Midrand ...

Sounds like the beginning of a very good article -- maybe you should syndicate for FIFA :D:D:D:D

I got home last night and noticed my latency was extemely high 1000ms +. I logged off and didn't even bother trying again.

I was driving to work this morning and heard Sasha from 5FM mention this issue.

I had no idea of this issue and started thinking to myself: "I see this was a major problem, but the level of my Vodacom 3G service was at the same standard it is on normal days" which goes to show how bad my 3G service actually is that I don't notice a difference.... Go figure.

We as consumers are really at the service providers mercy.

Just to clarify, this isn't a snipe or flame, but a simple remark about the irony. I try not to get too involved, beacuse nothing good comes from it.

Auckland Park (Brixton Water Tower)

My connection was slow until around 21:00 yesterday evening. It's been fine all day, but has suddenly slowed down to a trickle again!

Also experiencing lots of disconnects. In fact, I just got disconnected for the umpteenth time today whilst typing this message!

Just heard Dot Field on 702 say that everything is "back to normal!"? LIAR!!!

What's happening, VD?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

And now it's up to speed, again! WTF?

Hi All,

When will this problem be solved.
Browsing currently is painfull. Downloads impossible veryyyy slowwww.
Vodacom should extend the data period.
If I know Telkom they like it to hurt others.

There are a few very good ISP's who do give a damm so don't carry on stuffing money into the coffers of the monopolies. Make a difference with your wallet.
I support Screamer telecoms. They do give a damm.
