kudos
they definitely haven't rolled over

a month delay really does represent a case of trying to create space within which due and proper process in court can be followed. MTN will IMHO (and IANAL) have to demonstrate to the court why their legal team did not request a short delay in implementation before serving their papers especially because ICASA had undertaken to reply by the 13th February after consulting counsel.

A fair compromise. After waiting so long for these deep cuts, I am glad this is imminent. It is great that ICASA can show it is listening but also not going to roll over. I hope its legal team knows what it is doing and can get the court's support for this decision.

I wonder if MTN has lost meaningful value in terms of negative impact on its brand perception and how this compares with the financial gains it hopes to achieve.

I think the harm to the brand is not really of much concern to them because

The real reputation risk that is being covered is the risk to those heading up MTN's South African operations are not able to adoapt to foreseeable changes in the landscape - unfortunately there isn't enough journalistic comment on this factor.

Well DONE to ICASA Team. These guys have continued to surprise us. They have given the duopoly enough time and I think ICASA have been extremely fair.

I am glad they have finally decided to get their house in order.

We the Joe Public are gaining confidence in a body that was long forgotten.

IANAL....hehehe

I am not a lawyer

Although I've been told that the qualifier is inadequate and misrepresentative :)
