Rather than a R25k PC, I'd rather get the value as a sign on bonus...

Can see it now. No job description, no salary info, just a gaming PC instead of a sign-on. Really selecting for success here. :p

A computer as a signing bonus that is a fraction of your monthly salary? No info here or on the page about the position or technologies used.

Pass.

Possibly 2x the salary.

Wonder if this is a way to weed out the over the hill 22+ year olds from applying.

Lol, guess my last comment didn't go down well.

With no mention of any remote policy, I guess its non existent

With all the articles about them recruiting, they must either be growing fast, or no one wants to work there for the salary they are offering or their applicants aren't qualified. The single PC offered to sweeten the deal points to salary.

It probably comes with t&c that they will deduct the cost of the pc from your final salary of you leave within X months.

Let's hope they update their careers page with more info.

Seeing how subjective a PC setup is, surely you want to build your own gaming PC or use it for other hardware maybe your own choice of laptop.

What skills are required for the job. Programmers is such a broad area.

But then what are you going to program on? Certainly not that el-cheapo R15k laptop you currently use?
That's not cheap for me and definitely does the job. Admittedly it is getting long in the tooth, compile times on my desktop are a lot faster, but it's fast enough that it doesn't matter for my size projects.

Can we enter the competition but stay at our current job? I'd like to win the PC and not leave my company. I'm happy here :D
