I think it was very sneaky the way that Microsoft "assumes" that you want to upgrade , because you just clicked on the X on the top right corner of the pop up box..... which is what most people do to get rid of annoying popups.......

That being said, The English HO is extremely happy to have her W7 machine back and all her software, including Sage are running smoothly...

Tonight there will be much rejoicing in the Moosemansion..... :whistling:

Heh! They're not assuming, they're trying to force people to upgrade - they want W7 out of the support channel.

The WIN 10 Update saga explained

The link below is one of the better explanations of what is going on. A good read.

http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-makes-saying-no-to-windows-10-update-a-little-easier/

The main point is that when MS conceded and provided a small print opt out option, they also changed what the "X" at the top left corner did. Instead of closing the option, it simply postponed the update that a user had agreed to by NOT selecting one of the other options including the small print opt out.

Sadly, it seems that when adding an explicit option to select cancel with its new Get Windows 10 prompt, Microsoft also changed the behavior of clicking the X in the corner. Instead of cancelling the Windows 10 update, as previously, the action of clicking the X now simply postpones the update. So that's one more thing users who don't want the update need to take into account. Sigh.

There it is, one HAS to read the stuff on your screens.

My windows 10 decided to update to 1511 in the middle of an important presentation to my directors. Needless to say, I found a brand new mac book Pro on my desk the next morning.

One way to prevent this is to disable Background Intelligent Transfer service & Windows Update service.

Nothing as frustrating as sitting down to a good game of CSGO and windows 10 starts it schite killing your bandwidth.

The saga never ends:

I see on another site that MS has
Based on "customer feedback", Microsoft said it would add another notification that provided customers with "an additional opportunity for cancelling the upgrade".

"We've added another notification that confirms the time of the scheduled upgrade and provides the customer an additional opportunity for cancelling or rescheduling the upgrade.

"If the customer wishes to continue with their upgrade at the designated time, they can click 'OK' or close the notifications with no further action needed."

reference BBC site.

But on a reboot, both will be re-enabled as far as I know...
