No option to close/cancel the forced Windows 10 upgrade, you only get to reschedule to update to a couple of days later at the most..
Had a horde of people call and ask wtf is going on and that they DID NOT consent or click yes. (I believe them as I logged in with Teamviewer to see the above for myself.)

Not a fan of software that forces itself down your throat like some filthy rapist. If Microsoft can install W10 without your consent, what else is happening without your consent one might wonder.

Apparently clicking the close button counts as saying yes.
Not even the "you've won $1 000 000" popup was that deceiving.

My windows 10 decided to update to 1511 in the middle of an important presentation to my directors. Needless to say, I found a brand new mac book Pro on my desk the next morning.

Clever move IF you were trying to prove a point .... but .... could have avoided the issue if you had handled the update message correctly ...

Now you have 2 PCs ..

well played :)

Heh heh!

Surely, Surely, this cannot be right....?

I am going to have a torrid day today..... and %$#@ Windows with enforcing that upgrade on us....I never wanted....it......

If you restart there will be two boot options (Windows 10 and Windows Rollback or something similar) choose that one and go back to Windows 7. If/when you're in Windows 7 do a backup.

EDIT: also try and move away from Pastel and get something like Microsoft Dynamics Nav or GP.

Much Adu about nuttin' I tell you...

Went upstairs, swore at the little Dell..... Hard reset.... different black screen appears restoring, previous versions and a mere ten minutes minutes later we were back at W7 , exactly the same as yesterday......

I would like to take this sincere opportunity to thank all of you for your advise..... and *&^% The automatic update.........from William...

On another point, It was not Pastel, The English Ho informs me that she uses the lastest version of Sage!

Here ends the missing 24 hours of my life!

Keep it sans Internet till you deploy preventive solution, as tomorrow she might get the same popup screen.

Agree completely with this. The update message is so difficult to get rid of that it will continue to pop up testing the patience of a user to the limit.

Don't be too sure about that ..... Any reversal of changes to an OS can leave all sorts of file damage in it wake, that may take a long time to show up ....

Longer term users of older Win operating systems MUST take a decision. The next move will be for MS to stop supporting Win 7 and 8 and then users have to take a decision anyway. The sooner they face the inevitable the better off they will be, while they still have a few options open to them.

This.

@Mortymoose, my recommendation is to buy a new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed and move Sage from the old machine to the new one.

PC / Laptop (if used for critical income generating / work purposes) have to be budgeted for on a 3-5 year cycle.

I give Microsoft 5 years to fix Windows. During this time they will certainly learn that a customer is more important than profits from sharing personal data and 'telemetry'.

We had 8 people in the office having the same issue since Friday and all of them claim to have not pressed the button. All of the affected people are consultants who provide their own laptops so it might be that the bug resurfaced...

Yip I got a call this morning from a client who also says no button was pressed and voila this morning they had windows 10 on their computer.

Another reason why I refuse to use windows...

That client should NOT just accept the fact and carry on. They need to understand what has happened, how they have been "converted" and WHAT the sign on is now, if it is a local account or an on line account.

If not, in about 2 weeks time things start to go wrong and then they will have no idea of how to recover from it .....

They had to do the whole Rollback scenario since they also use an accounting package and it doesn't work from windows 10.

This whole windows 10 story is a mess...
