I recently moved to Stockholm and was amazed at what was waiting for me.

My new apartment came with a free 100Mbit/s line with no cap. The Swedes by the way have never heard of ther concept of a "cap" before.

Going from a broadband connection of R200/m 0.320Mbit/s 1GIG cap to a free 100Mbit/s uncapped line left me wondering if South Africa will ever be able to match Europe, if so how long will it take?

No, we will never get there.

/how's the weather in Stockholm today?

Well maybe we won't get there and yes there are much better offers in Europe. But we enjoy living here and I have heard there is life outside my computer room. At least that is what they tell me.:D

Well ofc we'll never be able to match Europe, third world countries don't have that kind of luxury.

99mbit = 12MB/s, right?

so that would equal a 700MB Movie in 58 seconds? :eek:

and how on earth does one get a 1ms ping exactly? :(

What Swedish Saffer forgot to mention:

- His appartment does not only come with a free ADSL line but also with a monthly rental price of R10.000 - R20.000

- His appartment is a whole lot smaller than your house in SA

- The weather often sucks badly, so he can't go out much

- He needs to work much harder and longer for his generous paycheck

- He pays more taxes than most of you guys earn monthly

- Hiring a maid? Forget it! She earns more than you too.
