I am here to ask for some legal advice concerning my dealings with RSAWeb the last couple of months, as well as to warn everyone from dealing with them.
This all started a couple of months ago when I joined RSAWeb because of their free installation and 1-month free deal. It all started great, my first 3 days was perfect. I was getting 50meg up and down local and international servers on speedtest.net. Then my international speeds went completely bad, like down to 2-5 meg bad. I work from home for a company based in Australia, so this was really bad news for me.
In a desperate attempt to get enough speed to get some actual work done, I upgraded my account about a week later to a 100meg line. My local speeds shot up to 100meg, which was epic, but unfortunately, my international speeds were a complete joke. It was clearly not a speedtest server issue as my friend received his full speeds on the international UK server from Afrihost.
After struggling like this for a week I officially cancelled my service with them on Friday the 13th of Sep. They confirmed with a response and everything seemed fine from what I have could figure out. They then told me it would take one month because of the one month notice period. They then went and billed me for the month of October, which should have been my free month...
In the meanwhile, I have been trying to still get them to fix the speeds because I am stuck on their network. They apparently couldn't let me leave to someone else even though I was more than willing to still pay them. At this point I was very upset with them, I had to constantly phone them about progress on tickets, as they just ignored all the tickets from that point on out. At one point I started phoning them and asking for the manager, as I want them to just cancel everything and at that point, and I wasn't willing to pay the cancellation fees, as they are the sole reason why I needed to move to a different ISP.
With them just keeping the ignore mode on, I decided to phone them about 3 to 4 times on separate days, to confirm that my contract is, in fact, being cancelled at the end of October. With all of them first not seeing the cancellation ticket, and then when I tell them the ticket number, they suddenly find it. I was so sure that they would cancel the service. Surprise surprise, they kept me hostage on their network for another month.
At this point, I phoned them and asked them for all of my voice call recordings, as they record all of them. This was about a month ago. They keep telling me they will send the voice recordings but they never do. Probably because all of this is recorded and evidence of their incompetence is clearly on record.
Sorry for this long post, I have saved all of the emails going back and forward from the first moment, and I am currently still waiting for those voice recordings. I have all of the local and international speedtest results saved. They have deducted the cancellations fees from my account today which was over R2k. Even though I cancelled my service in Septemeber. How do I proceed with this? Can I take them to small claims court to get my case heard? I feel like I am being bullied by this corporation, and any attempt to actually speak with them and sort this out ends up with them just ignoring me. I am completely lost at this point.
