One of the engines that inspect HTTP packets for security and other issues decided to play Russian Roulette with some of the packets and would occasionally kill a packet passing through.

Just enough to do strange things to some of your browsing....

(This in conjunction with the congestion issues caused by the Telkom problems created a complex set of symptoms and led to some detailed analysis before we found it. These multiple cause problems are always a bitch...)

But, as always, the forum's help was a BIG help!

Well glad to be of assistance in some small way.. :)

Now show me where that engine is cowering and hiding and I'll teach it a lesson, so that it never does that ever again.... blerry irritating....

Sadly the problem hasn't gone away!

Try: www.allgsm.co.uk

I'm using internet as my APN. How do I use internetvpn?

I've tried to alter this in PC Suite but I just get dumped off when I try to use it.

Still this really will not get around the issue on my Huawei E-220 card!

Sorry a typo on my part: http://www.gsmhelp.info/

Just tried this on Virgin Mobile and its working OK.

Switched to my 6234 on Vodacom (internet APN) and I can't reach the site!
Same on my Huawei E-220 no joy!

Finally MTN is also OK with the above site.

I can resolve the URL to 74.52.167.82, can even ping it and connect to it on port 80, but cannot browse it.

I suspect this site is clashing with our transparent caching engines. To work properly with the caching engines, sites must support certain standards and often sites don't do this. We try and talk to the web masters to have this resolved but in the mean time I'll have it bypassed and see if that helps.

It's the same site as www.gsmhelp.info !!

They both resolve to 74.52.167.82. So it's the same problem.

I've reported the site for investigation.

It's only been like this since Sunday!

I'm logged onto both www.allgsm.co.uk and www.gsmhelp.info as I type by using Virgin Mobile at EDGE speeds!

Mmmm

Caught up with this thread after my last PM. Whilst you're playing with that cache, you might want to look at how it's handling AJAX as that's still an issue. The other problems seem to have resolved in that any misbehaviour is now inconsistent.

If you want to test tweaks to your cache on legitimate code, my site is fully XHTML transitional compliant, except for one line of a Google Search script which I haven't manage to resolve without breaking the functionality

You know where to find me if I might be of any assistance. And again, thanks for taking our issues to heart.

OK, I'm in Joburg now and able to post.

If I try to use "internetvpn" apn I keep on getting the 619 error, I must have tried to connect about 50 times last night.

If I use the normal "internet" apm I connect but have the same issues as most of thr people on this thread.

I suspect it has something to do with submitting form based submits, as http gets seem to work fine. I could not even post to this forom from Pretoria even though I could browse fine.

Busy tracing. Will get it fixed. (So you can get your fix!)

Yes! Bingo!

100% OK now, although Eskom had the power off here in Stilbaai for two hours which is a downside of living in paradise! So I had to wait in any case! The good news is we have 3G here in Stilbaai on Vodacom at least! I feel your CEO might have some connection with this? :D

Thanks for your help! :)

Just to confirm, everything seems to be working again, including the two websites www.allgsm.co.uk and www.gsmhelp.info

Have tried a bunch of international sites and they all load just fine.

Although - speed.vodacom.co.za seems to be down. Unable to load that site.

:L:

EDIT: Just tried speed.vodacom.co.za on "internetvpn" and same thing. Site doesn't load.

It should be, when I had to get vpn for Standard Bank they did request it from Vodacom. However I've never used it so I might not be.

I can vpn into my office fine with just the internet apn so I haven't really been bothered to check

I also suspect you're not provisioned for the unrestricted apn.

All problems on the internet apn is now resolved (cross fingers) and SAIX say they up again, so if you don't need the internetvpn apn, don't bother.
