Cannot Get Telkom Line Cancelled, Need Help!

Hi all

I am looking for anyone who can provide me with Telkom Legal Department contact info or someone within Telkom who can actually finalise my cancellation. I am literally at my end and am fully prepared to go through the expense of sending a lawyers letter.

I registered a cancellation for one of my two landline numbers, via the correct channel, with Telkom on the 7th of March 2018 for the cancellation to be effective 8th of April 2018. After multiple calls and battles, they are still billing me for the line. Everyone I speak to at Telkom tells me that they can see the cancellation request and that it is "stuck" in the system, nobody can seem to finalise the damn thing. As I pay Telkom vie EFT monthly, they cut my line and I have to go through the painful task of spending 45min on the phone to have the service unsuspended and then log another dispute to refund the reconnection fee. This has been going on now since April and I am fed up. I really want to take this further and I will but Telkom don't seem to have a legal department that I can send my lawyers to. I have telephonic recordings of each and every conversation I have had with Telkom and will make them public if this issue isn't resolved soon.

If anyone can help me, please pass on any details that can help expedite cancellation.

Perhaps contact MyBB - They may be able to help.

I've seen a previous article where they wrote something along the lines of a client being unable to cancel their line and they reached out to Telkom and it was eventually sorted...

I've tried for over a month to cancel our landline which is in my late husband's name.

After using the email address of everyone at work (can only use an email address once), tried every arrangement of his name, even entered his ID number and still I don't have access to the account.

Now I've stopped paying. Let them sue a dead man ..........

My sister and her family moved into a house in a small town, where the previous owner also cancelled his Telkom line when he moved out, but it just never happened, so the bill has just kept increasing.

They tried to apply for ADSL, but Telkom won't do jack unless they settle the outstanding debt on this line. I didn't even know they could do that. And all because Telkom can't get their ****ing act together to do something as simple as cancelling a service.

I sent in my cancellation on the 2nd of August, so I'm already in a feisty mood coz I know I'm gonna have a struggle with them as well.

What can we legally do to them if they just keep failing to cancel?

Thanks for the link but I don't think you understood my problem correctly. I have already successfully logged the cancellation, as the cancellation is in the system already, but it is stuck. I am having issues getting them to get it "un-stuck" and finalise the cancellation.

I am sure there is a channel where we can legally take them on, I am trying to find it. That was the reason for my post. Hope your cancellation goes smoother.

Right so if there are any Telkom representatives reading this, I have logged a case with ICASA and am fully prepared to take it further if need be. Here is my ICASA case number.

To chime in, I'm sick and tired of Telkom. Also been struggling with cancellation of my line! And charges keep increasing. Any Telkom reps here, please PM me.

Then again, based on previous experience of others, I doubt anyone will contact me.
 
Its a pain, but i finally managed to cancel mine. You have 2 options

1) Do NOT cancel - Simply tell them you want to switch to prepaid (This is not what i did)

2) Contact the National Consumer Commission - there is a small form to fill out. They get on Telkom's case for you and sort the mess out.

I spent month's emailing, phoning, walking into the contact centres (Waiting in the queues), for nothing. The NCC sorted the mess out.

its amazing how high they jump for the NCC - i love it
