Hey techies, my son has an ASRock P4 board, and I was unable to load Windows 7. I contacted ASRock support and they confirmed that the pacific board could would not run Windows 7 (apparently this happens to quite a few P4 boards), that to me is a challenge right there. So after doing research I stumbled upon a program Win to Flash, utilizing the USB port. I first changed the setting on the Bios and installed Windows 7 on the machine via USB Flash drive (Win to Flash allows you to write an ISO to the flash drive). Note that all drivers that work for XP do not necessary work on Windows 7, so download new drivers from providers. always first check with manufacturers.

I'm not sure if you are asking for assistance or just making a statement here?

I'm just as confused as aybbleek.

Anyway, while there may not be official drivers for the board, Windows 7 should install some MS ones for you, which'll sort it out.

There's just a certain file you need. I slipstream into all my created windows disc. If you Google the error you'll find that specific file can be grabbed off a windows vista disc. Then you just replace the win7 version of the file with the vista version.

Assisting those who have had the same issue. Also do move to Afrihos, i have been with them since 2007, best ISP ever. I should know, I use to work for one.

Even after getting Windows 7 working on the board, you find that manufacturers don't have the necessary drivers for graphics as well as sound drives.

No, but doing research I found that MSI & several other brands have problems loading Windows 7. this is the easiest way to resolve the issue.

Couldn't you just check the chipset and use the generic driver for each component?

Just wanted to know if you know where i may be able to get the Vista WDDM ver1.1 driver for graphics as microsoft has it build into another program instead of it's own. These drivers are not on the Vista disc?

Did not work, in fact even the drivers for the graphic card did not work. The ATI 9200 graphics card is using Windows 7 drivers currently and has 16mb colour. This is the answer from Microsoft: The ATI Radeon is not a DirectX9 compatible card, so ATI/ADM wil never release Vista/7 compatible drivers. You can only try to install the XP drivers. XP drivers do not work. I require WDDM ver 1.1 which iss not available.
