Cape Town Fire/Smoke Alert Thread

That sux! And they've only yesterday talked about the millions of rands of damage they've suffered! :(

maybe you should volunteer at the fire services then they would have more manpower to fight the fires. have you actually been following the amount of fires in the cape town area? it is easy to pass comment but knuckle down and do their job then you may be in the position to critisize.

The smoke covering CPT is from Somerset West area.

Fires are still going there.

VWS has been deployed for going on 4 days now at Vergelegen.

Oh, VWS has opened it's doors for new recruits - if you want to join www.capefires.com - go now, before it closes!

Fire and smoke is getting so bad in Somerset West. We can no longer see Helderberg Mountian and now there is ash in the streets hell even in our garden:eek::eek::eek:

The fire is terrible and after yesterdays winds I am sure it pumped it up again:(

Eish, lots of smoke this morning. :(

I'm not too sure how the fire is going in Vergelegen Linoman, I think VWS is doing mop up there now - but I can't really say because I'm not there.

*Phones finance'* to find out what the fire is like since she works right next door to Vergelegen!

From certain parts of Somerset West and Gordons Bay you can see the fire glowing. WTF, the smoke really is terrible here

Can't see Table Mountain either / Lions Head -- its as if the mountain is smoldering

The fire is heavy because of what is burning, I bet it's burning in the Pine trees.
If the fuel is heavy, then the smoke is hectic.
Weather conditions are not helping either.

Guys, If I can ask something, if any of you are bored at lunch time or something and you can actually do it, take cool drinks to the fire fighters (Volunteers or paid ones) they are all working bloody hard and their relief is pathetic.

Nothing nicer than average people coming up and giving them ice cold water or ice cold cokes or chips or whatever - it's the least you can do (if you wanted to do something)

Get everyone in the company to sponsor a 2litre.
It would be a AWESOME thing to them.

any info you guys can give is brilliant

im sitting in my office in town and my horses are @ my small holding near sir lowry's
so im stressed as stressed can be.

BRILLIANT idea about the cooldrinks thanks
i will see what we can do to get something to them tonight when i get home
(hopefully by then they will just be watching the smoldering)

Irish Cream, I think this fire is going to go on for a few days more...

The problem here is that there will be flareups all over the show.
