Parow-North Connection

heya Guys. Im in Parow North. I dont mind linking up from here. Lemme know if u guys can lend a hand.
 
picking up peers in Rosebank area which allow me to connect but not to browse network on net

SSID= Free Open WiFi
Free Wireless Internet
 
I'm at the top of edgemead, as it rolls up tygerberg hill. also, i work in one of the tallest buildings in Maitland.

Ideas?

preferrably, i'd like to connect in edgemead. i might have line of sight to plattekloof centre/panorama clinic/technicon.

what ssid should i be looking out for?
 
I'm in Capricorn Beach Muizenberg and have a 2nd story floor facing Capricorn Park direction (that high white mast is very visible).

I have more than enough wireless equipment including high gain antenna's, routerboard 532's ... etc.

Problem is after Telkom told me I cannot get ADSL here "sorry sir, your exchange is incompatible" ..... I would like some sort of permanent connection via wireless for business purposes (ie. not p2p), got no problem in being involved with a mesh or pointing more antenna's in other directions.

Tried to join CTWUG but get an error on signup:
Fatal error: mime_magic could not be initialized, magic file /usr/share/file/magic.mime is not available in /home/ctwug/www/e107_handlers/mail.php on line 110

Any highsite close where I can connect and blanket this area with a 180 degree omni and get net access?

How's the WUG doing in Cape Town.

I live in Brackenfell. Is there anyway I can connect to a WUG in that area only using my Notebook and a Linksys WRT54G Router without buying other antennas?;)
 
Hey piesang, the bot hill tower is up, they are in the process of connecting it to the wug. Where about in Brackenfell you? I have an AP in ferndale are but im using it for inet at the moment.

Soon to be in the bergvliet area and would really like to connect to the CTWUG. Also have some keen contributors in Lakeside, Kirstenhof, Observatory and also possibly Newlands.

Any Ideas?
 
soon a link into Muizenberg is going up, linking to another group in the Grassy Park area. From there we can get to the rest of the suburbs on that side (hopefully).

Sounds like you have things mapped out but for now any idea where the nearest ctwug node is? Saw the GE.jpg file but cant really interpret it.
 
Okay, so I moved back to Paarl. Anyone around here, up and running or interested in starting something? I don't think theres any chance of connecting to anyone on the GE.jpg map I've seen lmao

Am in Mowbray/Rosebank area, 500m away from UCT.

But can't see any AP's.
