Cape Town WIFI mesh nets

Who is ctwug-GiZ?

Hi there!

Just looking at all the ctwug plots on GE file from wug.za.net and saw that he is only 1.7km from me... looked at the path and doesnt seem to be anything in the way and i could see pretty far from my roof in that general direction.

Whoever is the owner of this SSID... are you broadcasting ( can i connect to you? ) and if so, are you using 2.4 or 5.8?

CTWUG-GiZ?????

As the above states, im trying to locate who owns the ssid ctwug-GiZ and if they broadcasting or not. Any help would be nice

Thanks

@Q20

When you gonna be on mIRC again? Need to talk to you about a guy who works with me. Needs internet for his wife for mail and general surfing and is also in the grassy park area...

Yes, we were busy with link to steenburg. Had an old 180 Degree waveguide pointed that way. Picked that ssid up but was a bad signal -90.

We dont provide internet.

@ Q20!

Found an SSID ( while pointing in the grassy park dir ) which shows as "For access call 083 *** ****! Anyone you know?

ok, deleted and re added them..

Well i assume you are rivendale farm....hmmm from the looks of it connection is quite possible. Just look more or less in a southerly direction and see if there is ne thing in your way. Then chat to the guys on irc.jawug.za.net channel #ctwug for more help... i would think that 5ghz equip would be best for you considering u looking at distances of 15km...

.. not so easy, I'm on a north facing coppie separating me from down south. Thought I'd load my co ordinates and then wait for the network to expand up the west coast. :)

In time we should have atleast an AP that are pointed to your side that you have something to scan for.
