I serviced my car at a reputable shop round about a month ago. They did the 24 point check and 5k later my car was returned.

Yesterday my car just refused to start. It sounds like it can be the starter.

Do I go back to the services station or what other options do I have.

I would go back.
But chances are, if you are correct in thinking it's the starter, it will be unrelated to the service and you're gonna have to pay to have it fixed, unless your car is still under warranty.

No longer under warranty. its a 2011 model

Having a service done normally implies a warranty on workmanship for at least three months depending on where done. Take it back and see what went wrong but parts can and do break that are NOT part of a service. Either way, have it checked by them.

It's a golf 6. Serviced it at ACD. Pretty miffed that this happened a month after I had it serviced and after I already had to fork out 5k

Find out what was the cause first of the issue occuring.

It's a mechanical device, you can't blame ACD - things will break, wear and tear - but if something came loose, or if it's not "just wear and tear" you can take them on.

Take it back, ask what is wrong, let them quote you, and let it be fix.

Some dealers guarantee a product for some time after they replace something. eg they worked on the starter, if it brakes within 6 months they will fix it for free.

Take it to a VW dealership, let them do the diagnositics, take the report to your aftermarket service center and hand over and tell them to fix it.

Some aftermarket service centers don't have the equipment to properly diagnosis the problem.

Personally I wouldn't. Dealerships post warranty are not your friend.

What sound does it make ? Click ? Could be solenoid...

It can just be a bad coincidence, I hope you approach it in the right manner when you are taking it back there, don't be one of those customers.

This
No way of knowing you have a faulty starter unless it starts to give problems.

If there's a winding sound it's your started bandix and not the starter itself. Take the car to an auto electrician not a mechanic.

Know your shyte before you go to these stealerships, before you get shafted, because R5k for a "service" is ridiculous.

Have you not a assist product on your personal policy or credit card that you can use?
I would check the connections before anything else ie sparkplug to ecu/distributor etc.
