Ok , so do you think that it is worth insuring a car, accidents and break downs and maintenance doesn't come to often, compared to the monthly levies we have to pay insurance companies won't it be better to not have it?

that is that thing they have to prove that it is my fault, when I have a accident make sure you never say "oops, sorry, my bad" or anything similar, in law its innocent until proven guilty, never admit its your fault!!!! If my statement lets say after a accident is contradicting then that insurance companies will have a hard time getting cash out of me. Besides that how often do accidents occur? I feel like insurance is a waste of money.
It's not that hard to prove fault if you rear end someone. 3rd party is rather cheap and if you get yourself a proper broker you'll get a good premium and they'll handle any claims.
Don't be brave.
You don't seem like a very honest person
They should make insurance compulsory. Even if it's only 3rd party.
actually it is, maybe you made a emergency stop and we were in close traffic? hmm, not really my fault is it
it is not that I am not honest, but If I admit its my fault I shoot myself in the foot, the way I see it is that it is no ones fault that is why it is called a "accident". If I get into a accident then its my responsibility to claim against my insurance company is it not? If I can prove its not my fault its a bonus, I just don't fall for insurance company tricks and threads like most people do, yes I have seen a similar situation before, the companies can do nothing to you if they cannot prove it is your fault, a contradicting statement in court doesn't really mean anything if they want to use it against you. I just feel that accidents don't come along very often, serious accidents even less so If i bump my car lets say once every 2 years or so I feel it costs much less then paying the insurance premium up till there.
And another thing, how many of you had a big accident and afterwords the insurance company asked you to make a contribution? Despite that costs being less then your total premiums paid together. these guys are crooks nothing more really. The only time I see insurance handy is when my car is stolen. The rest of it, I don't feel is worth it.

As the others have said, you rear-end someone it is your fault.... Have you any idea how much it costs to fix a modern day car ? Clearly not R21,000 is like a bent front bumper and a dented bonnet, slightly dented at that.
It cost approx. R20,000 for ONE air bag that has deployed.
What if you get hit by a taxi, or you hit one?
You reckon the taxi driver is going to smile at you and offer to fix your car?
How about if you hit a Mercedes?
A pedestrian?
Cyclist?
And if your car gets stolen?
Good luck mate.![]()
that might be the case. I bumped into someone about 3 months ago, T-boned the women, I basically drove over the stop street at the blind corner into her, looked like my fault but my statement was still contradicting to hers, the total costs of my damage about R5000, it was a light bump , fixed most of it myself, now having insurance companies over your ass all the time saying you have to pay and its your fault, basically, case 1 : they come to you saying you have to pay. I tell them to read the statement, next case : they do the same thing saying that they have read the statement, so I ask them to prove it, it takes even longer and more money for them, they will come back with a law suit most probably , keep in mind I have no insurance. So ok, her costs is about 20k as mentioned , I still refuse to pay, this time I ask them to prove it and tell the same thing to their lawyers. their lawyers agree, its back to square one for the companies, If their lawyers don't agree I ask them what procedure they followed. at the end of the day its not worth it for the companies to sue me. Now saying a rear bumper is my fault is not the case, acording to the K53 driving instructions you have to look in your rear mirror before you make a stop, if its a emergency stop then you need to tell them what the emergency stop is for, and in this case it will not be my fault due to my slow reaction but rather the person/ truck in front of you. If you did look in your mirror you would have seen me. If they didn't then I can put in a counter claim. ok it can be my fault yes but you still have to prove it. Meaning the insurance company has a big job proving my statement wrong.
so the rule of the thumb is: If you have a accident make sure you do not admit it is your fault unless you want to screw yourself.
That is the biggest load of Hogs Wallop I have read in a long time......
have you never have insurance companies coming after you for a accident even though its not your fault?
mmm No but then I have only been driving for 22 years so suppose I will have to wait a while longer hey ?
Nope besides my excess nothing. Wrote my R300,000 car off last year cost me R2500.00 in excess thats all. Try recover from that without insurance would be fun.
