Car regrets

Guess I'm fortunate, have not regretted any of the cars I bought.

In order:

Mazda Midge (secondhand)
Alfa Romeo 147 2.0TS (new)
Alfa Romeo 147 2.0TS Facelift (new)
Audi A4 1.8T (pre-owned)
BMW 320d (pre-owned)
BMW320i (demo)
Toyota Fortuner (new) - (there is a thread on here about regretting which dealer I used as they assist with fixing issues)

No regrets for me. If I really had to say something, its not holding out a few more months. Would have gotten a Golf R.

First car, Citi Golf, ma se gat that was a pile of turd, had it for about a month

Second car: Corsa Lite, no complaints, love it.

Third thing. BMW F650GS an unloved beast, needs much attention, but I love it more and more each ride.

Which model year? What went wrong?

This was a 2005 Fiesta ST. Only found out afterwards that the car had been in an accident, and still had some severe issues (steering was bonked). Also, it was way behind on services, guy who had it before literally treated it like a POS. Cost me loads of money over the years to fix up, hell, the first service I sent it for cost me R7k just to try and fix some of the sh1te wrong with it, and back then I was a broke AF, think I bought it when I was still doing my postgraduate at Uni.

I bought this through a friend at the time, didn't know the owner directly. But ya, learned my lesson the hard way :)

Just the one - Fiat Uno. Piece of crap.
Should have went with the turbo model. Would still have been a piece of crap, but at least you would have gotten some excitement out of it...

Those were too kark expensive for what you got, they only really became popular when people started modding them

I regret not buying the Ford Fiesta ST200 when they were cheaper.

Mine in order:

Golf MKI GT: only regret selling it and not being able to afford to look after it and restore it at the time.
Uno: Regret ever buying it, but it was hella cheap to drive at the time, until I wrote it off a few months later.
1600 Conquest: only regret buying a car with a drop kit on and not taking the original springs when the previous owner offered it.
2008 Yaris: 2nd hand dealer I bought it from was shady and I didn't realise it was previously in an accident until a year later when I took it to get the wheels sorted, but even then it lasted me a good couple of years without any issues, until it was written off.

Current is a Yaris 2018 model, the only regret I have is not getting something bigger even when I had the option, because I was afraid of hitting something with it.

You mean brand new ?
I mean the first pre-owned examples to hit the market. I've seen a few in the R240k - R270k price range two years ago. Today every one that I see is at least R300k

Only regret my current car.

Renault Megane GT. Still a great car, no issues with it, and it was awesome at that point in my life.

A year later the kid was born and I wish I went for something with more space - a sedan or SUV. Something like a Subaru WRX when it was still relatively attainable. I can't justify paying today's prices for a new one...
So, trade the Megane in on a Duster.

I don't regret owning any of my cars. I regret selling at least two of them, the Lada and the Twincam.

That would be a downgrade in features for a small gain in space. The Megane has automatic everything...
It's not that small a gain. And yes, I do agree going to the Dustpan from the Megane and the 5008, I do miss some of the civilised niceties.
