Its possible but I prefer vegan protein because
- it has a blend of all essential proteins similar egg (reference protein) but it also has fibre and and some carbs
- fast and easy to add to breakfast oats
- less "rich" tasting" compared to whey
- cheaper
- lower carbon footprint (i'm already eating lots of day in the morning)
I'm not of the opinion that engineered foods cannot beat whole foods in terms of nutritional content. For instance I also take creatine daily as it has numerous benefits and few downsides yet it doesn't occur naturally as a pure powder
