Carnivore diet

Carnivore Xmas going very well for me. I've had 1x whiskey binge night and 1x crumbed chicken strips binge day. The rest has been hardcore carnivore while family around me cry after every meal that they have eaten too much, feel bloated, blah blah.

This is my new way of life. I am not feeling any FOMO. I'm happy with the new physical me and my health now. I don't intend living any other way for the rest of my life.

Carnivore maintenance is just on a whole other level compared to when I tried maintenance with keto. I find not having low carb alternative foods way less distracting and no risk of temptation. With keto it was diet soda's, then that sweetness ruined dark chocolate so I moved to artificially sweetened chocolates. Then the full wagon spill followed.

My 1yr carniversary is on 8 January and I'm feeling stronger than ever! I look forward to seeing all the people start their new year, new me diets next month to lose their Xmas fat!!

I’ve been on it. Can't type more details since my gout is really bad. :D
You must be the one in ten million exception.

Carnivore cured my gout. Took allopurinol (Puricos is just one of the brands) for years. It took two months of carnivore for me to realise that allopurinol was unnecessary.

Why did you have gout in the first place? Obviously been misbehaving.

Turning whole foods into powders changes their natural structure, which can affect how your body processes them. When fibre-rich foods are ground into fine powders, the barriers that slow down digestion are removed, leading to faster absorption of sugars and starches. This can cause quick spikes in blood sugar, even if the food is technically still "whole."

Eating whole, unprocessed foods keeps the natural balance of nutrients, fibre, and structure intact, supporting steady digestion and more stable blood sugar levels. For those managing their blood glucose, sticking to minimally processed foods is usually the better option.

It goes even further than that: most processed foods remove the other layers of the food before refining to create a more desirable product. Many of the enzymes needed to break down those foods are usually found in those layers.

Furthermore, it usually removes the chewy part of eating that food, and again, you get less of the enzymes found in your saliva integrated with the food before swallowing.

I believe it's a large part of why bread has also become less digestible. Less of the enzymes naturally found in wheat are included, quicker yeasts are not giving bacteria and themselves time to break down the proteins, and again, because they are fluffier and less chewy, you get less saliva and enzymes included.

F*** it, I'm going carnivore again. Hopefully no keto flu. I feel like absolute schit after December binge.

Steak is expensive though man, R169+ per KG of rump?

Have you considered ground beef?

Should be cheaper

Unless I go Lion Diet, but meh maybe a tad extreme :)

Wife has a fairly bad undefined auto-immune issue though and is on methotrexate so she might try Lion Diet as doctors can't help.

So the absolute worst thing happened to me this past weekend and I found out.

What did I find out? Try severe food poisoning 2hrs after chowing a fried breakfast at a local eatery and then spending the next 24hrs chucking it from both ends.

What's the real problem? Well I found out that a very eina stomach will simply not tolerate the thought of anything carnivore going inside of it. Normally one would eat dry toast or dry crackers or drink flat coke or sugary energade!

Nevertheless, I refused to give in to this motherfathering bug. Eventually completely exhausted and physically weak, I relented and had 2x Rehidrate pouches (bloody sucrose!!) and 2x sugar free energades - the first deviations in a year. Pleased to say I was able to introduce some Woolies roast chicken 36hrs after the onset but hell, carnivore on a stomach bug is not for sissies! Lost 2kg though!!

Onwards and upwards - my 1yr Carniversary is on Wednesday this week.

Oh, and my boet was in Bloem on the weekend and brought me some sticks of Geelvet biltong from Besters Butchey. I decided to pair this with an airfryer camembert for tonight's supper as a "I survived" meal.

You can eat ground beef on carnivore. It's Lion that's more restrictive.

Day 7 for me and besides the headache, I kinda battled with my morning run. Hoping that this isnt the trend as I have some high mileage runs coming up.

Not sure hey.. just a cup of black coffee after waking and a mix of creatine and amino acids 30 minutes before the run.
it's common to lose water weight initially when switching to a carnivore diet due to reduced carbohydrate intake. Carbs cause the body to retain water, so when you cut them out, your body excretes more water. This can also lead to a loss of electrolytes, particularly sodium, potassium, and magnesium, as they are excreted with the excess water. It's important to replenish electrolytes, especially in the early stages, to avoid symptoms like cramps, fatigue and headaches.
