CD-RW access in OpenSuSE 11.1

SYMPTOMS : Can read + install from CD/DVD, but cannot write to CD/DVD with K3B, even though you also tried an USB CD writer

CAUSE : Permissions are not set, or incorrect permissions.

SOLUTION : Follow the steps below : assuming you are using a supported CD/DVD burner - extra steps are beyond the scope of this post

1. Open YAST
2. Go to User and Group Management
3. Highlight the user(s) you want to assign the correct permissions to
4. Click 'Edit'
5. Add said user to the 'DISK' as well as 'CDROM' group
6. Apply all changes and close YAST
7. Log out and log in again.
8. K3B should be working

wheel, cdrom, wheel, audio, video, games, cdrw, usb, plugdev, scanner
