Ceiling fan

Just checked and it doesn't look like my fan will allow you to replace the switches. The whole unit seems to be sealed. There's no screws I can find that would allow access to the inside as far as I can tell.

Where are you?

Also take a photo of the fan from the side of the main unit from maybe 2 angles

Small Karoo town in the middle of nowhere.

Pic of fan. The white part where the light fitting and pull strings are located seem to be a solid part. The screws on the side was for the cover and the smaller screws don't seem to have a function as the just protrude out the sides. Possible also to keep the cover in place? Doesn't seem that they are a way to open it up and get to the wiring inside.

There are those screws above the thumb screws which hold the light cover in place, those will make the plate under the bulb holder drop down.

turn off the breaker before playing around here.

Sadly it's the switch part that doesn't work. The original string is still there and like new condition. The switch doesn't work at all. It would've been fine if the light was in the on position when it broke. I could then just have used a smart bulb, but it was off and there's no way to switch it on now.

R50 at the local Builders or Brights and it works again.

Most likely that cap right up against the ceiling either just pops off or has a screw on the side and then twists.

Once that comes off you’ll probably need to unhook the entire thing and bring it down to earth and work on the internals.

Every device on the planet is repairable.

Obviously this stuff is beyond my DIY skill level. Will try to get someone to take a look at it.

@Mercury12 got a similar one had four installed as well and they been working well for 4 odd years now

I also have put 4 of those up, not the exact same but similar with the remote and 6 speed settings. Decent fans and lights.

yes, but the beeping is only when you press a button :-). one of my lights, I managed to put the receiver in the ceiling, and you can barely year the beeping noise.

Have you guys managed to convert them to Smart yet?

I have been looking at this below, but because they have different lights, and dimming capability as well as 6 speeds, I am not sure if this will actually work?

nah, I do have it connect to a sonoff switch so its "sorta" smart. I use the fans until the heat is a bit much then pop an aircon on but it does a great job at cooling

So what does the sonoff do? just switch it on and off?
