Cell C apologises for network issues

Cell C's data network which prevented some users from using the remainder of their monthly data allotment on 31 March 2011.

has there been an apology for the month end fiasco?

Had a similar issue on the 31st whereby I couldn't check how much data I had left from an ISP - not only Cell C suffers from this problem, but it seems that certain ISPs have poor web interfaces (from my experience, anyway).

I'm sure Lars' network is built with plenty of redundancy. The issue is that in order for redundancy to kick in you typically need some kind of failure or alarm. If this particular router was still alive and talking normally to all its neighbouring devices then it would not be detected as a failure per se. The indication is that it was simply sending the data in the wrong direction and this requires some human intervention to tame the machine.

It seems to be the way some routers fail, or in fact don`t fail properly.
There`s nothing as tricky to find something that did not break properly,
which add`s to the time spent looking for that thing...

Wow, I just got an SMS that said my data has been reset and I now have 5 gig available.... something tells me this was meant for the 1st as my data summary still shows 4 gig. Dam you Cell C for almost making me happy.

Got the same sms, it's just a delayed sms...
