Good day - I used to have a contract with Cell C, Blackberry with unlimited Data and free BIS. It recently changed to "fair usage" limit of 2gb per month.

On 2 January 2013 I changed to a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini with the following contract:

Postpaid Straight Up 100 with 200MB Smartdata Promotion. i.e. now I had:

100 free sms
100 free minutes calls
100MB free data - so in total 300MB data

On checking my Balance, I noticed that according to Cell C I have depleted my data and owe +_ R200. (on Friday 24 January 2014). On querying the information I downloaded from the "My Account" website, I was told (by the billing dept) that I had to visit a branch as they could not assist.

According to the total on the downloaded cdr document, I have used a total of 294.27MB - how come I have been charged for extra usage?

I hope someone out there can assist.

That is because your contract only starts next month and not this month (You upgraded on the 2nd and its 2014, not 2013). Your still on your Blackberry contract BTW.

Hi - The Cell C representative pertinently told me that I will no longer be on the Blackberry contract and that I should be aware that I no longer have free BIS and "fair usage" free data once I move over to my new contract at 15h00 on the 2nd January 2014 (2013 was typo)

I've upgraded a couple of times on CellC and its always been the following month. It might happen that they did migrate you as it was the first business day of the month but you will find that your "free" data did not kick in this month.

Their screwed up upgrade procedure is why I'm cancelling my contracts and moving them over to Vodacom. One more to go and then I'm CellC free.
