Cell C connectivity and coverage problems explained

I have had some issues... but as the friendly CTO of CellC explained yesterday (search for thread im too lazy), as long as they communicate with us properly and to the point... I don't mind waiting for them to iron out these growing pains. WHOOOOOOSH!

I downloaded improved software (thanks to this forum) and since then I'm WHOOOSHING!

Improved software for the speedstick? Where?

Have been having the problems mentioned in the article from day one. Hope to get it sorted soon.

@Jan. Thanks :) Will try and follow the steps and hope I don't mess it up lol.
Muchos Gracias to Tun@ as well!

The CellC coverage map is very confusing with the 3 different colours of red representing the HSPA service? No legend to explain this??? It look really optimistic and no zoom to street level function to compare coverage....really suspicious!!!!

This results in the thrashing effect between EDGE and HSPA+ that users have been complaining about, Reichelt explained.

This describes exactly my experience in Norscot (Fourways area) for the last few days, so glad to see they're on to it, been just up the road in Epsom Downs all day today sitting in the middle of an office block and my connection has been sweet and stable with damn good speeds considering how deep in the building I am.

Hope the Fourways area problem is fixed soon.

Finally I know what's going on. Cell C has been ignoring my complaints for the past 2 months now. I'm sick and tired of dealing with them. I should have stuck with Vodacom, even though they're much more expensive. I'm going to try that unofficial patch now.

+1 I've often wondered why they don't use contrasting colours. Shades of pink and red are almost unusable!

I occasionally have such disconnect problems, but most of the time not. Seems to come and go. I presume it must be indirectly based on things like number of users and time of day etc. It's annoying when it happens but doesn't happen often enough for it to bother me too much, I'm glad they seem to be working on it though and seem to have an understanding of the cause, as they simply have to fix it if they want to be taken seriously.

Alas not, back home, thrashing between EDGE and HSPA+ continues, using MDMA to force 3G connection but still very unstable :(

Um click "legend" on the left and click the service you wish to hide. use your netscroll on your mouse to zoom in i manage to find my street on the map? although i don't have coverage :(

Running Win7Ultimate on Dell D610 using the E1752 from Cresta vicinity (Johannesburg) - absoutely no difficulty being experienced with the Cell C data facility.

On the right had side of the map is a legend that pops up

I am using an HO Probook 6550b using the internal modem in the Cresta Area for work and Jhb North at night - have had constant dropped connections especially at work

Support is useless - after logging a complaint only got feedback after complaining on Hellopeter, only to be told that they rolling out phase 2 in the next few weeks (queried definition of few and got end of March so few in CellC speak is 10 :) )
You also cannot get your data balance unless you use their modem software - online does not do data LOL

I have been running Mobile Connect from day 1 and selected UMTS only.
In certain coverage areas the connection goes up and down like a honeymoon panty, The connection wil either disconnect or just die (still connected but no throughput).
and In other areas it will work 100% all the time.

The area surrounding Capegate shopping centre seems to be a big problem.
