Cell C Data Rip-Off

Does anyone know for how long the after-bundle-rate is supposed to remain at 15c/MB?
Is it 30 days from purchase, until the end of the current calendar month, or the end of the next calendar month?

On Control Chat it's 30 days from date of purchase.

I've been caught by this too. Buy a 50 MB bundle. Surf happily along until, oops, it's day 31 and suddenly all my airtime is gone (R2 per MB OOB)

Once you know how to avoid 99c/MB OOB and follow procedure, there will be no Rip-Off.

Purchase a small bundle R7.50 every month and your OOB will be 15c/MB.
Are you taking the piss?

I don't understand why you don't just buy another data bundle when your previous one runs out? It takes a couple of seconds.
Also with a data bundle you'll get charged in 15kB increments , which is much better than 1c increments

This is difficult to monitor exact moment when bundle is finished. No problem if you know that OOB charge is the same, just remember when your last bundle was purchased. It is much more convenient.

I didn't investigate charge increments. I stay connected for many hours, it has minimal impact.

C'mon Aztech, keep us updated.

I fell for the same story.

42 emails and 6 weeks later I found a woman who assisted me in one day.

Forget about our famous DM rep.
If he can't sort a thing he just ignores your emails.

I went through 3 Helo Peters before I got to this woman.

Their legal department genius had to give his telephone number to me so that a shop could phone him.
I asked him for a responsible person in accounts. He said he will do it immediately. Two days later I phoned him and he responded with the customer service e-mail. They already had 12 emails from me. They are yet to reply to a single email.

Just over R3000.00 later I could make calls again.

Be carefull.

CELL C IS A THIEVE.

Why don't you just thy to stay "in bundle"? I am in knowing about cell phone data usage in South Africa and I regularly give tips to coworkers and tourists (mostly German). People are sooo surprised to see how much they are saving at the end of the month. NONE of the other South African cell companies come anywhere near CellC's data and voice prices! No matter how you look at it. But then again you have to do your bit which clearly you did not. As the saying goes "if you are stupid you must suffer" :D

I've been on cell c for the past 12 months now. Can't complain about their rates as it is much much lower than the opposition. I buy R15 airtime every month. 100MB gets me through the entire month with absolutely no problems except the signal that's not always up to scratch.

It's only after I can't log into any of my apps that I realise....ooops!!! 30 days past and I forgot to buy airtime.;)

OK, I'll expalin why.

I buy R300 worth of airtime at a time. This gives the best value for money with the included/free data. I.E. 900 MB.

I regularly ALSO buy small data bundles to make sure (theoretically) that I'm always within the 30 day window so I should get the benefit of the 15c per MB out-of-bundle rate, as promised by Alan Knott-Craig here.

By doing this, what should happen is, when the 900 MB "free" data is used up, I should still be able to use my remaining airtime for data at the out-of-bundle rate of 15c per MB.

What actually happens is I get charged 99c per MB out-of-bundle, even though it's ALWAYS less than 30 days since I purchased a data bundle.

If I took your advice Suspect, and only used data bundles, I would never get to use the 900 MB of data I get when I load airtime.

Besides, all I want is for Cell C to provide the deal Alan Knott-Craig said they would.

You didn't say it in your initial post, I have feeling you had not been aware of the fact that inclusive data do not count the same as separately purchased bundle. [Edited to restore mistakenly deleted word]
If it is really a case, maybe you should to PM Cell_C details of your claim and let them investigate.

I am afraid, it won't happen, you are wasting your time. <Reality check> :)

I had something similar and was told that the CPA did not apply to cell-phone airtime since ICASA said the law was invalid. I asked the operator whether she knew that, or had made it up then and there and the call was cut

Unrelated but slightly related I cancelled a contract with cell c 2 years ago that had expired. They were nice enough to carry on billing me each month for subscription for a further 7 months. Every call to them resulted in the same "but you dont have a contract with us"
So Im quite aware of how shockingly terrible their call centre is. Hello peter did nothing to help either.

He did say that (and I understood from the start) and Cell_C contacted him and offered him some money which does not fix the issue and is not sufficient.

Yes I did. Got offered 300 MBs of data "for the inconvenience". I've been overcharged thousands of Rand. That is not an acceptable solution.

It is why the following should go to the FAQ section:

I don't see how, me forgetting to buy airtime needs to be in the FAQ section. I did'nt ask a question. I was implying how cost effective they are that I forget to recharge.:wtf:
