Cell C network promises: have they lied?

In contrast - CellC has improved my coverage over MTN by 100% - it's the first time in 3 years since I am able to make a phone call from my lounge without having to go into the garden or onto the balcony. Neither MTN nor Vodacom is capable of doing this (despite complaints).

Since I switched, I have better voice quality and higher data connectivity and have yet to see the famous "E" icon - something which was not possible on MTN/VC. So yes, I think their service (and pricing) is substantially better for me. A few complaints here or on HP are not necessarily an indication of bad service.

I am extremely happy with both the coverage and quality of the service - and over the moon about the rates (calls and data).

Friends from the UK that are visiting consider Cell C better than anything they get at their village in the south of the island!

Cell C's network coverage has improved. But I doubt its anywhere near 98%

Does it matter if it didn't happen as "promised"? It is not as if they can be brought to book for it.

what is the point of the article? Did they not respond or did they refuse to respond. Who did you talk to at cell c
Many telecoms companies make promises, and we try to follow up on those promises to see if they followed through. We asked Cell C if they made this target, and they did not respond.

I think you will agree that it is important to follow up on promises from companies and government?

Still going strong here in the south of JHB.

Great data speeds, perfect 3G voice quality and the best voice call rates.

Nothing to complain about here.

Give us more detail then. Who did you ask for information. How much time did you give that person. I am sure if you look at all the telco's you will find that they are all talking BS. Adverts saying that they are the best in SA. But we all know it is BS. That is why we have this Forum......
There is so many articles now saying the same thing. We asked but there was no reponse. If they give you a response next week and they tell you that they did meet their targets.... what then. Why not get the facts and then print.
just my 2c

Errr... read the first sentence again.... Your sentences are contradicting each other :p

I'll stick with Cell C with their network problems (this wasn't the case 5 months ago I was sitting on a good network) I just can't afford Vodacon/MTN rates

+1000

I am glad the guys at MYBB are keeping track of promises being made from the industry and then reporting on it when the time comes to fruition.

Big corporations like to brainwash consumers and encourage them to buy their products we then go ahead purchase them with faith that they will live up to reputation as advertised but we have endless issues when we move over to another brand. I wanted to move everything over to them due to the real deal and supercharge but now that Vodacom came to table and MTN will rather pay 20cents extra and get good quality instead of the poor network quality whereby nothing works

98% coverage, 3% throughput.

You got signal.....but cant do a thing with it.

Idiots! My data bundle i have is useless.

Same with me. Great signal but no throughput.

same here - 3 different areas ( Centurion /rooihuiskraal and even Woodmead today.... takes 30 seconds plus to open google search results on my S3(yes full signal...).... something very wrong)

sigh

Please do an article on Red Bull Mobile as well. They haven't changed their handset in well over a year and still advertise it on their site as "modern design and latest design".

But I am happy with their voice network, although 3G is a bit of a gamble here on the west coast.

I've been with CellC for more than 6 years now.

Of course, as with any network, there were the odd dropped ball here and there, but I'm not complaining.

So far my experience with "dead" 3G spots is limited to my father's house - you get good signal but no throughput. This is next to Silver lakes.

I speak under correction, but it might be due to congestion and overuse of the 3G base station in Silver Lakes.

A year prior I was moaning about EDGE roaming on Vodacom - and is glad to report that so far (this year) I have seen my cell switch to EDGE only three or four times.

So far I'm happy with them, and will continue to use them.

cell c is great with me. Great 3g network. great throughput. great voice service and if i have any technical difficulties, the customer care services handle my call with professionalism and give me a satisfactory answer. so they did not reach their 98% SA coverage. fact is they did more than vodascum and emptyn combined given the time frames. and they had the balls to give us the consumers a target to expect. yet you could never say the same for vodascum and emptyn. i mean 72% 3G and 94% 2G coverage, in about 2years? Hell that's an amazing accomplishment given that vodascum and emptyn, are barely over 50% in 3g and have not covered the whole country in 2G, yet they had far longer time to do it in.

and not to forget that if it was not for cell c, mobile prices in this country would still be at ass rape levels. not that they still not now. but they far better and cell c is still the cheapest mobile network if you compare apples with apples

what is the point of the article?

Me thinks it's an important article to put some pressure on Cell C to provide report on whether they achieved the targets they set themselves. If they aren't answering the questions, then their claims are tantamount to lies.

My deadspots so far are in Morningside at the in-laws and work parking (4 floors below ground).
