So I was all excited at getting Giga 200 and I put my cell C (non-Giga) in my router and it flashes HSPA and shows a signal level of ~22%. But when I connect to the internet, it flips edge:wtf: Does Cell C even have edge on their own network?

Set your modem to '3G only', but long term you'll probably need to look at installing an antenna.
Does Cell C even have edge on their own network?
Yes, @ 1800MHz I believe.

I guess I will need an antenna. I use a router, the 3420 set on 3G only, but it does switch by itself if the signal is not strong enough I guess. Well an antenna won't hurt as I can use it with other networks too.

It is why set it to 3G-only. If router doesn't have such option, plug modem to PC and change it in your dashboard from "3G Prefered" to "3G only". This setting will be remembered, unless you change it back to default.

I had a similar issue with MTN. They came out to install an antenna. Went from Edge to HSPA+ full strength. So yes, an antenna is your answer

Is it possible to get Cell C to come out to install an antenna? I'd love to go with the Giga 20, but the signal (HSPA) keeps dropping every few minutes :(

Hi Cell C First let me commend your Klerksdorp Cell c shop for their outstanding service. I bought the 200 Gig with the Nokia Cs-19 modem signal strength in Stilfontein is 2 bar / 35 some times it goes to 3 bar/45 down load speed between 0,9 and 2.1 mbs which is a great improvement on my current Telkom ADSL line which gives me 30kb/s which I can now cancel thanks to Cell C.Will an external antenna help ? I am a pensioner and don't want to spend R1000+ and get no results
What do you suggest ?
