Cell C white 7.2mbps modem vs black 21mbps modem

So I just bought a white one as I hit my cap on my black one and the gf can now use the white one when she needs to. (and partly because the data bundle prices don't make much sense. Options were 1.2gb/R250, 3gb/R400 (too much to use before end of month and may not need it next month) or 2gb/R150 every month (incl modem, 2gb/R83 not incl).

These are the speedtest results. Same SIM, same spot, diff modems.

Speeds and quality of connection is better now :

No longer battle with VPN and Remote Desktop sessions - is as it was before even though I only get 4Mb/s now instead of an high of 6Mb/s.

Speed is not my concern, only that I have a stable, working connection :D

After last night's little network fiasco things don't look too good here:

U/L 0.10

Anyone else struggling like this?
 
I had basically no connection last night between 7:30PM and 10:00PM and could not even load Google even when I was connected.

Better again now, but not as fast as 2 weeks ago

Mmmm - Location-API has coords (and they are correct) for 6699115:cell mcc="655" mnc="07" cellId="6699115" lac="65" rat="W" lat="-26.19926" lon="28.12399" accuracy="2900".
For 14443, it has no results. So, and this is interesting from POV, Location-API is expecting the cellid as a composite of RNC and CID. Huawei 1820 reports this from CREG but K3565 gives only 14443. So, how the hell does one get the RNC from these older modems?

I know, I know, this is the honeymoon period. It's not going to last forever... dreading the day more customers join my tower...:(
 
Cell C is absolute DOG ****

I am based in Auckland Park. On some occasions during the day I get fast speeds but for the last 2 months I am getting these crap speeds for hours on end.



Edit : and just a few mins later here is my result using MTN on the same laptop with the built in modem
