Cell C Speed Test Results

At Ookville got 7Mb/s this morning, par for the course.

In general average speed is between 3Mb/s and 5Mb/s - can't complain.

Still going well here :

That's why I do it on a regular basis - so that we can have an idea of network performance over a time period.

Although speedtest.net isn't a proper test - you'll need to do a large file download in order to test the network under load.

Ooh I do that allot, just yesterday I downloaded EasyPeasy in about 15 minutes....

Edit: Would just love to get more bandwidth on my sim. Would gladly pay for the extra 60 gig, just dont want another sim again, got 2 already (and Yes I did a suggestion on cellc's site) they did call me back saying it can not be done :(

Downloading Linux Mint "Julia"

Average transfer rate is, according to Uget, 504 KiB/s. It started up at 700KiB/s, then dropped down gradually to 500KiB/s - where it's staying for a long time.

Sorry to hear. That would be really nice to have - but I think they want to avoid the scenario of somebody hogging all the bandwidth 24x7 and depriving other users' of their bandwidth.

By the by, my wife's on afrihost adsl, 1Mb line with telkom. This way I can download huuuuuge files without affecting her online games :D

Not bad either.

Why can't I copy a link from speakeasy's speedtest?

Howsit Librarian.
As I have ADSL (4Mb) at home I have only used the Cell C stick when it has been working properly. When I got it at the end of last year it performed like a demon up until earlier this year, cannot remember up until when exactly, then there was a patch of poor speeds with intermittent disconnections which did not bother me as I just used the ADSL. Recently the network seems to be working better, not as fast as the end of last year, but it is working nevertheless. For those that bought the stick and use it as their primary connection, they must be a lot happier.

This is what I got from Speakeasy (NY) server. There does not seem to be a quick link on that speed test website?
Download Speed: 2337 kbps (292.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 504 kbps (63 KB/sec transfer rate)

Cell c can thank their lucky stars that the CPA only came into effect recently. If it was a year earlier, half the people would have been able to get their modems refunded easily.
