I always wondered how does calls affect the data speed of a tower. Say there is 60 active calls on the 3G cell does this slow down the towers ability to provide faster data speeds?

Got response from Cell C in the form of an SMS, they tell me the tower I am connected to is congested and they are waiting for new equipment to arrive... How long are they going to take for this? I really miss those days of fast Cell C in Summerstrand.
Roaming on Vodacom. Just normal HSDPA and not DC-HSDPA because that is not included in the roaming agreement but still a good result. If I use a Vodacom sim in the same phone LG G4 and same tower I get over 20Mbps so I assume it is DC-HSDPA that makes the difference on Vodacom.

I am not sure how far Cell C is with upgrading the network in Summerstrand. They did respond to me and told me the tower I am connected to is congested and that they are waiting for new equipment so they could add another layer to the network (notification sent via SMS). Miss the early 2013 days where Cell C really flew at 6 / 7Mbps... and then a sweet 10Mbps after 00:00, in Summerstrand.... now days its 0 - 3Mbps

Any way to get Cell to enable Vodacom 3G roaming in my area? I reported poor 3G in my area, they investigated and promised to erect a tower in future. Now while one waits, I was hoping they'd enable the 3G roaming, coz it's not available here.
Don't think so. I'm not sure why Cellc does not target areas where it has poor or congested towers? Here the entire area is allowed Vodacom 3G roaming if you are standing next to a Cellc tower that is pushing 10Mbps easy you can still force it to Vodacom 3G roaming and it works.
So by the looks of it Cellc enables entire areas for Vodacom 3G roaming and not just suburbs that have poor coverage so if you are for example in Durban and have poor coverage you are out of luck because they won't open 3G roaming for the entire Durban area.....
btw what sim are you trying to roam on? Data contracts does not allow for roaming only prepaid a postpaid contracts.

It's a prepaid sim. One of those new blue & white ones, not sure if that makes any difference.
Yeah if it does not work then it's not enabled for you area.
