Cell C Speed Test Results

So do u suggest I wait for Jan or hand back my modem. I have a 7 day return policy.

You can take it back, but I read there's a R250 handling fee when you return it. So yeah, it's a bit of an expense, but it's frustrating to use it on EDGE.

I wish that every Cell C sales person would ask the client first where they are located and check at the store if the client is covered on the coverage map before they would sell the dongle.

That way alot of people would not get disappointed with Cell C. Not everyone reads myBB.

No mention about a "Handling Fee" on the website, maybe you could point this out to the sales person.

We're confident that we are offering a superior service, but should you not be satisfied for whatever reason, we have put a seven-day return and refund policy in place.

Damaged Data Products will be rejected by Cell C. The channel will be notified and the Data Product will be returned to the specific store
IMEI Number on the packaging matches the USB Speed Stick IMEI Number
The return and refund policy only applies when Data Products are purchased from Cell C approved outlets

I cannot even stay connected to HSDPA+ or whatever it's called. My modem turns blue and then solid cyan, then goes blank and turns blue again. I haven't even been able to load a website properly. So frustrating.

In the Ferndale (Randburg) area.

I'm in Menlyn with very similar results to Getafix...

UL 2.8meg/sec
DL 3.46meg/sec
Ping 43ms

Curious as to why this part of Pretoria seems to have killer uploads when everywhere else doesn't?

Bought my stick this morning and hellz, I'm happy. The lower latency is magic

Faerie Glen Pretoria, bought mine this afternoon @ Menlyn Park CellC shop.

Ping 45ms
DL 10.64 Mb/s
UL 3.28 Mb/s

Very impressed sofar!

+1 in northriding area.
i've done about 20 tests over the last few days. top ul & dl speeds sitting at around 2mbps (often below that)
ping is also losing packets and fluctuating between 90 & 150 (mozambique 0_o) with very high jitter.
signal strength sitting between 8 - 20%.
i'll send onlinesupport a mail.

Parkview Johannesburg (connected to killarney I think)

Connection is really erratic, connects to cell c HSPA+ everytime but connection is terrible . Sometimes it flies at around 4mb/s then the next minute can't access any websites, latency shoots to 1000ms and almost 100% packet loss. Signal strength sitting at -75dB.

Did a speed test now at 5mb/s down, .2mb/s up latency = 70ms.

5 minutes later: Ping to www.myadsl.co.za = 780ms average (with 50% packet loss) and now I couldn't even complete a speedtest and it's 3am so the tower probably isn't too congested. I noticed the modem is dark blue then changes to light blue, what does that mean?

Gonna return the product on wednesday :< can't work with something that works as advertised only half the time.

Will us CT peoples ever see 40ms local? I get around 80ms, but 40ms would be a dream.
