And still no one has phoned me back... and no, i'm not phoning, waiting for over 10min, when its my cash being wasted for a problem that is not my fault. Comon Cell C, the first day i reported this too you you had someone fone me on the same day and i followed his instructions to test the dongle in another area(was in Pinetown) and sent him an email of the results. I've done my bit, please respond.
They are doing something right in Nelspruit:

Yes tera, with 50 CellC subsribers that must be possible!![]()
I actually battled to get a modem on prepaid in February, everything was sold out. I managed to get one of the last at CNA. I definitely don't think lack of subscribers is the reason, I think CellC is doing something right over here.
Its all about the coverage and signal propagation. Nelspruit is well geographically inclined for such a radio network not?
If you are implying Nelspruit is flat surfaced, no. There are many hills and slopes up and down in this place, so signal propagation isn't a given. For instance my MTN 3G signal on my phone is weak and strong dependent where I am inside the house, but CellC is solid where my PC is located.

What signal strength on the E1820?
damn typo's![]()
showed between -77 and -75 with inductive coupler, but found much more consistent performance with direct connection to external even though a weaker signal strength was indicated (reasons for that have been covered in a different thread)
This has effectively doubled my download speed and I can now work inside which was very difficult previously due to erratic signal and weak signal strength.
So what exactly are you using for the direct connection?
The tower that is feeding you 3G signal from is far away so you are picking up spillage of those towers that are 3G active at present. Honestly speaking the connection won’t be very stable until the sites closer to you are active and live for 3G.
Nevertheless the speeds you are picking up are amazing as I have never seen spillage giving such high speeds. Hopefully when your area is live you will get greater speeds.
Kind Regards,
Cell C – Technical and Data Support
Well i'm apparently getting spillage off a tower that's much further away from me than my default tower! Well I'm still happy since my speeds have been between 3.5Mbps and 5.2Mbps with an RSSI of between -75dBm and -55dBm. Here is an official response I got from Cell C tech support:
