Holy smoke. Best speed I have ever recorded. Max used to be around 1meg dl. This is all thanks to ajax and his home made antenna thread!
I am attaching the thread link because I think more guys need to try this out. It's cheap and it works!

blah, my performance has been erratic all afternoon, I'm really looking forward to the day when CellC sorts out their teething issues, also being stuck on the wrong side of a hill doesn't help, geographical issues and wireless just don't work well together, might just have to resign myself to using Telscum after all

I cant use API-locator as it does not have my Cell id information...anyone else in durban getting Cell ID 30551? This is really testing my resolve with Cell C...

Well if thats the location of the tower then F**k me sideways, coz i'm actually so close to it its frightening. I'm about 900m-1km away. I'm on blythswood road, just west of were the tower is...so to get good signal do i have to be right on top of the bleddi tower?!!? FFS...

Cell C whats happening in Durbanville Durbanvale area, speeds are super slow and almost no upload speed!!!

Let me reiterate.... cell c for 6 months i have struggled, with speeds of 6mb/s to 11mb/s on a good day.... then fibre breaks... now every week night u struggle and cant use my internet properly since Feb until present because you continue to prostitute your products on the market and it is now over saturated...
My Vodacom dongle has never had peak issues as slow and consistent as Cell c...
How are you going to fix this because i am tired of complaining and last month and the month before you send wait it be sorted soon.... no no no!
My RSSI is -53dbm i can see the tower form my house and my signal is max and i use an external antenna for even better gains....
and i get this....

I am about 700m from the tower - I can see the damn thing from my balcony. I am also about 50m at least higher than the serving cell. When I had my issues, I tried two things that both worked:
(1) Put the Cell C sim in a different (worse!) modem, so that it drops itself down to a lower band. Suddenly, things were better.
(2) I wrapped the modem in foil. From no ping I suddenly started to notice a difference.
That said, I was told the new tower was still in the process of being deployed and really it was just a waiting game.

Use MDMA to find these. Maybe you are not connecting to the tower in direct sight.

Getting about that in the Southern Suburbs as well. Cape Town seems to be having issues.
